Chemguide7, you can delete this now! Thanks!
NUS may require grades like AABB (I cannot remember the exact grades). If you have C's, chances are low for NUS. SMU requires something like BBC/C, so you may have a chance. Do surf the websites of NUS and SMU for the entry requirements. NUS may look primarily at your A level results and not so much of SAT score. SMU may be a little more holistic and look at your SAT score, especially writing section. Do ask your seniors at NUS/SMU. They know much more than me.
Your GP needs to be very strong for you to do psychology, as it is quite an essay based course.
You need to look at the job prospects of such a course too.
You may also try for CCA way of entry for NUS, if possible.
:-) waste more time~~~
wahahahahahahaha jokes
The unis are not entirely transparent about their selection process eg. what is the grade for the 1st percentile. That is why I am not specific about my comments. Only the selection committee in the unis exactly knows how this is done.
Regards.

bye all
Not into liberal arts, but I think that I can help you~
There is more emphasis on SAT than A level results. I believe that you should wait for your A level results, then make a consideration.Never know whether you can do well for both Gp,as well as mathematics.
Based on my perspectives,Social science is a part of the liberal arts curriculum. The liberal
arts curriculum comprises social science, humanities, math, science, and
so forth. Examples of social science include psychology, sociology,
anthropology, and economics. Success at social science requires some
skill with statistics and quantitative data. You should be good at
identifying cause and effect, especially when it is indirect. You should
also be free of prejudice and have an open mind. In general, social
scientists study people and their behavior.
*The term liberal arts is more general and includes such subjects as
literature (and writing), history, philosophy, religion, math, music and
art, and all the sciences. Typically liberal arts does not include
nursing and health sciences, business, and highly specialized and/or
technical fields.
social science might be the more versatile option, because you can prepare for a career (like a psychologist) related to a social science (like psychology), if you decide teaching isnt for you.
As a whole, social science is specific(small details),while liberal arts is broader and covers the big picture.
Glad to know that you took SAT in preparation for Yale-Nus application, may your passion take you to your goals
Hi TheBlahGirl, wish you all the best and may you enter NUS or SMU.
