Here are my O'level results:
English A2
Food & Nutrition B3
Chinese C5
Combined Humanities C5
POA D7
Combined Science (Phy/Chem) E8
Mathematics E8
So I failed math and I can't get into Poly. I'm trying to appeal for Mass Communications in Republic Poly so I've applied for JPSAE and DAE. However, I haven't received anything from them, which isn't surprising, given my results. If I write an appeal letter and go directly down to RP, what are my chances? My english teacher wrote me a recommendation letter too. If I do get into poly I will be retaking maths. If I don't, I will have to retake maths as a private candidate. I'm from 5NA and I'm just trying to find a shorter route. Any advice? Thanks!

Public and many private sector don't recognised private degree. I suggest ITE, longer but better.
Sigh..so really no hope of a shorter route to poly? :(

Civil doesn't recognised your private degree. If you work for them, they will give you o-level pay.
Try contacting the course manager in charge of mass communication?

Explaining your situation to her, see if she can help you in any way.
Or you can pretend to be a concerned parent over the phone, and ask if they can admit "your child" in any way, as you have tried the DAE and what nots.
In my opinion pretending to be a parent is a better option, as when educational matters involves an adult, it will give a more 'no nonsense' atmosphere.
I know that certain poly and their diploma course (not sure if it full time or part time diploma), there is an pathway which you can either take their poly certificate course or some WDA 's qualifications before promoted to their poly diploma course. You have to check with the poly's admission office to find out more.
i have thought of taking private diploma, but i'm not confident that the cert is recognised in the future. Thanks for all your advice
thank you so much MyPillowTalks

could you explain more to me?
If you are an 'N' level student previously, you can skip O level and joined the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP), but your N level must be good which should be quite easy than O level, you can try to contact your poly whether you can appeal to this programme as well, here is an link from NYP as an example : http://www.nyp.edu.sg/poly-foundation-programme
As for the WDA 's qualification pathway, it start with the WSQ higher/advanced certificate to their WSQ Diploma to an poly diploma, so far I checked that only NYP's part-time diploma(not full time) got this arrangement : http://www.nyp.edu.sg/seg/continuing-education-n-training-cet , otherwise for polytechnics other part-time diploma, you have to pay an small fee to take an entrance test before you can study there : http://www.np.edu.sg/cet/courses/Pages/course.aspx
If Full-time diploma is what you want, the only way for your situation is through 'Special Direct Admissions Exercise' (SDAE) : http://www.nyp.edu.sg/future-students/am-i-eligible/special-talent-n-portfolio
Hope it help.
