My raw scores for are 11 for L1R5 and 9 for L1R4, and I want to go to JC science stream.
So right now, I'm currently set on St Andrews JC (9) as first choice, appeal if possible, followed by Catholic JC (10), as I only possess one cca bonus point. Some of my friends have strongly advised me against going to CJC science stream as they have heard that the students CMI.
Any opinions?
CJC is ok I think. I have a number of CJC physics students this year and I think they are doing pretty well. One of them is really really good.
I failed my english, but i seriously want to enter into a JC. But my T-score is already 20 without -2...Should I choose JC?I really worry about my EL.

i think the problem now is not whether you want to go. Its whether if you can go. English D7 i think you need to call the JC. Accept the fact ba, or you wanna é‡考? suffer another 9 months of embarrassment? i really feel for your hcl å¯æƒœå•Šã€‚。。discuss with your parents? åŠ æ²¹ï¼ :)
well...i choosed two pure sciences because I really wish I can enter a JC.Even IJ or YJ.
i think u can go MI

I would worry less about your English and more about the other subjects.
I wouldn't recommend JC. You would probably get killed by H2 Maths already

Super important.
All the A Maths knowledge, minus off Plane Geometry (which is taken out anyway), are important for H2 Maths.
You really need to be strong in Algebra, Trigo and Calculus to even survive the basics of H2 Maths.
1. How does the intake for courses play a part? From what I hear it's like 10% can get A in the module tests only. Despite me getting 80++. So if my course has 40 vs 200+, will I have to be top 4 or top 20 respectively? But then again along of courses can take the same module, but how about those specific to one course only? Please advice.
2. Business administration or int. business in SP? BA intake 200+ vs IB 40. Understand IB is competitive, current year only 2 got gpa 4.00. But the rest do ok except for some 2 pts only. Not sure about BA as I didn't find out. But currently more inclined to BA
3. If you happen to be in BA please advise on environment and attitude of students. Whether course mates are hardworking or not. This is because of project work. Thanks

But to go to poly have to get gpa of 3.5 ,is it hard ? I don't want to play anymore and go to poly straight. My friend said if do very well in first semester then can go to poly straight.is this true ?pls help
Hi smokey the bear i would actually advise that you retake the o levels again instead of going nitec. Let say if you were to go to nitec, you would be facing with a new ITE syllabus that you are totally unfamiliar with and, above all, have to get 3.5+ to qualify for poly. Instead why not decide what poly course to you really want to go and work towards it, since you should be more familiar with the "O" levels syllabus and hence easier. Every Poly course would have an ELR2B2 (English, 2 relavant and 2 best subjects) entry score, so go find out what are the two relavant subject your course needs and study for it.
For example the R2 subjects for a Diploma in Biomedical Science in SP is
Have a grade in Mathematics (Elementary / Additional)
and
also a grade in any of the subjects listed below.
So for your next retake you have only have to take English, the two relavant subject that your dream course requires and your other two best subjects, adding up to only 5 subjects. Focus on these five and with your new found determination to not play anymore, you should be able to get into a Poly course in no time. :)

Uni studies being similar is just my opinion. I have never been educated in Poly, so I'm not exactly sure. But personally I find it just a minor step up from JC syllabus.
Yeah, that's true. Haish the burden of NS.....
Alright thanks, shall go do more research on the poly course
NS may not be a burden. Use the time well, to read up a lot. I didn't, but I made up for it by reading during NUS time.
We will talk about this in the future; you can always pm me at sgforums
The country has given so many good things to the teenagers, so it is time to show that they are Grateful and give back to the country in the form of NS. You learn a lot of things and hopefully submission and good attitude in NS.
Pls choose your JAE real carefully. It affects your life for at least 8 years. There are many who go to poly, then find that they do not like their course in their second or third year.

I have to agree, we get too ahead of ourselves and take Singapore for granted. Have to change that!!
I think the main problem with polys is that some of the diplomas seriously way too specialised and its hard to change when entering further education and some of them theres rarely any degrees for it

"You would need to indicate your choice when submitting your online application for JAE. Students who are eligible for CLEP will be offered the option to enrol through the online application. You have to select NYJC as your first choice if you are interested to join CLEP in NYJC, otherwise you might be posted to other CLEP centres." (http://nanyangjc.org/index.php/jae-2014/)
Nanyang JC's cut-off-point for last year is '9'.
