Hello! I'm taking my Os this year and have a few questions:
1) If I DSA through leadership, are there any obligations I have to undertake (ie joining a certain CCA, etc)?
2) Is the English Language and Linguistics programme a good choice if I want to take Linguistics for my Undergrad degree?
3) What are the teachers and school/student environment like in MJC, TJC and CJC?
Thank you! Your comments are greatly appreciated
Hi.
Personally, I do not like the idea of using DSA to gain admission into schools. Instead, you go to JC on your own merits. (This was the advice my secondary school maths teacher told to my classmates who participated in DSA, back then when I was in secondary 4. She said that they would feel better if they go to JC using their own L1R5.)
Besides, I feel that DSA is a waste of time because you have to take time off for interviews, selection tests, etc. - while those who do not participate in DSA would have used that time to study. You should only participate in DSA if you have good management of time and the discipline to ensure your work is not disrupted (eg. setting aside time for make-up sessions).
Just my two cents worth.
I am inclined to agree with Pervertedboy. I heard that those who use DSA to enter those "top-tier" or "mid-tier" JCs often tend to struggle because of the additional activities they have to do there. They want you to bring honour and prestige to the school, so they are very likely to make you consume a lot of your leisure time on whatever is related to the obligations that you have to serve when you DSA in, so I suggest that you avoid using DSA to be enrolled into a junior college. You might feel that our viewpoints (those that despise DSA) might be a tad biased, but statistically speaking, I don't think DSAing into a JC is a wise choice unless you feel that you can juggle your time wisely.

Sorry that I can't answer #2 and #3: I'm only a Secondary Four student who's awaiting his O Level results.
@Pervertedboy & @Leongster
Thank you for your replies regarding DSA. Based on your replies, I think I won't be trying DSA as it seems as quite a hassle during application and in school.
@Leongster Good luck in getting your results and thank you for the link as well!
You're welcome :)
