I'm 17 this year. Waiting for my O' level results that will be coming out soon.
I am looking forward to study overseas in Australia after obtaining my diploma in sg. And since I am not planning to continue further studies or to work in sg, I am considering of a shorter route, which is taking my dips in SIM. It is only 1 year.
My dilemma is that SIM:
1) may not be trustable - as in, i've heard of student paying a few thousands for a certain semester and SIM shortchanged them by cutting down the number of lecturing and tutorial classes.
2) the diploma cert may not be recognised in Australia. And even if it is, I don't how reputable a dip cert is to the Australians.
Going through a normal poly route is OK for me. But because im taking a business course, I hear that year 1 is a pretty waste of time learning very basic things and going at a very slow pace. I find it a waste of my time, 1 whole year learning things that can be done in a shorter period of time. Probably the reason why SIM business diploma is only 1 year.
I would really wanna hear opinions and advise from other Singaporeans. Probably someone who is or who know someone that took diploma cert and have successfully applied for a uni overseas.
SIM dip is very expensive. How about researching about other private diplomas? Also, For me personally, if I were you, I would not do the poly diploma then go to Australia.
Are there any preparatory courses conducted by Australian universities other than SIM?
