Is It worth avoiding Jc because of GP?

  I am just asking, it is really worth skipping JC just because one is not confident of scoring in English? I have a rather poor foundation in English and my comprehension skills are really horrible..I could barely pass my comprehension. I am rather good in my sciences and mathematics, thus I am confident of handling these subjects in JC.. I am not really so worried about the stress level, but whether my command of English is good enough to tackle gp. Since Jc have a much higher admission to local University, Should I enter Jc or just focus in sciences or mathematics in poly?

  bcos even if u get As for other subj but fail GP, u cant go anywhere

  So you mean that I should enter a poly and make use of my sciences and mathematics,attain a high gpa and enter uni from there? Is this route a little too long? And how much gpa do you need to enter local uni?

  For poly student to go into local university, usually the standard GPA is 3.5 point, although it depend on the course you want to study and there might be other factors they might look into.

  Beside you will eventually be going to the workforce after your university, you might as well enjoyed your study in poly while you can instead of worry you might lose out if you take long route. Trust me, once you are in working life, you will missed the school life a long, like buddy friends (or true friends) and fun actvities etc which I hoped your future company might provide!

  No , you can still go JC. I had a senior was very strong in sciences and math , but not gd in language. He got E for GP and hes in Bioengineering NUS

  Go ahead and apply to poly if you're sure there's a course which fits your intended career. But don't go to poly just because you hate GP.

  Being great in your English helps GP, but GP isn't English, and there are many students every year who are still not great in their English, eg. China nationals, but because they have figured out the requirements of GP, they still manage to score As and Bs.

  Worst case scenario, you just only need to pass GP (quite easily done, as opposed to scoring A), and excellent grades in all your H2s will still allow you to enter many good NUS, NTU and SMU courses.

  i attended a pre-u center during my time, i got B4 for GP.

  i resit for the exam and got A2 for GP. later i did a Law degree with UOL as an external student, i got a Law Degree but not so good.

  i sincerely think you can over-come your diificulty in english. GP is about critical thinking. I hope you can take the challenge.
