Have some doubts here hopping someone experienced could clear them for me
Firstly , What do you guys usually do in Uni ? Is it similar to Junior College , everyday mugging etc? Or Poly , more of hand-on and groupwork ?
Secondly , I know the chances of a polytechnic student going to Uni are very low , but exactly how low ? Or is it impossible unless you are those from very prominent secondary schools only ? Because there are alot extremely smart students from example HCI who went to Poly instead of JC.
I studied and worked at different time twice a week for six consecutive semesters before I graduated with a degree. That's my abstract two cents worth of my University life.
bashes. pageants.
Uni life was interesting to say the very least. It is a stepping stone for your to do 2 things, discover yourself and do damn well to get super power job.
Depending on if you are a guy - then just come out of army, confirm brain spoil lah everything you learnt in the past give back to teachers.
If you are a girl not so bad, brain can still function.
I did economics and spent the first 1 year playing and enjoying life as a civilian. 2nd and 3rd year were quite jialat, must make up for goofing off the first year. So everyday study until I want to burn book.
If not assignment, then got presentation. If don't have tutorial then got lecture. If not must study for mid term lah, pop quiz lah, or prep for internship interviews. Every day busy busy. Damn busy every day.
However recently I heard rumours from my cousin that you can pay to get professional help for your assignments. I wish I had that when I was studying man. I would have paid for all my assignments then can focus on mugging for my exams.
Chances of Poly students going Uni now are much higher than in the past. So if your results are good and you power at something else than your chances are high lah.
To do well in Universities, you have to study smart. If you have bad studying habits and yet passed A Level, you will definitely not do well in University.
Learn to apply concepts and not regurgitate your facts.
Polish your communication and teamwork skills in University. It is the place you learn to work with people with different background - just like in the work place.
One last advice - Keep an open mind. Possibilities are endless.
At Uni you have more independance but also responsibilities. There is all sort of crowd in a uni, bullies, gothic people, and any other type of people you can name. the greatest problem is the academic.
my time was copy tutorial, go lecture, pak tor, jam
oh and, lots of photocopying, and sarposed to read all the readings
Much of mine consisted of choosing which lessons to ponteng and go gai-gai instead.
