Hi guys, I need your help. Im offered eee by ntu and I have applied for uol banking and finance. Im actually all set for uol but yet the acceptance of ntu come all of a sudden. So just asking will you guys choose something tt u are interested and study in a private or something u have no interest in but in a local uni. I heard and checkout many forum on local and private and tt private is quite tough to match local cert in the market
UOL!
but if it is DL, rather go NTU.
(DL = distance learning)
what's UOL? Why don't you research what your prospective employers like? You should google for people who have had a similar experience, how do UOL graduates fare in Singapore's employment market. Also, is it a distance learning program? Sometimes employers accept the degree of that university if it was studied on campus but not the distance learning ones, even for universities like ESL.
If you can't find people who have a similar experience and if the employers don't put this information on their website, just email them to ask.
UOL first class graduate will still have good prospects but an average result UOL graduate will lose out.

UOL = University Of London. For your info, any UK universities that are part of The Association of Commonwealth Universities and recognised by their home government are only valid in Singapore : http://www.ifaq.gov.sg/psd/apps/fcd_faqmain.aspx
Distance learning from UOL is NOT recognised by the civil service and statutatory boards. Forget it ! I've been a fool and thus sharing my experience.
they ONLY recognised local universitites certs!
Local degree is more marketable in Singapore but I doubt it will pose as the same recognition overseas if you want to work out of Singapore.
all the sayings by some xxx people that its ok NOT to have a degree and CAN EARN a living is PURE NONSENSE ! After a short term they disappear from the scene and a new fellow will say new stuffs!
without a degree one cannot go far in the job or career. Very rarely you will come across people who can make it to the top without degree, if they are they are very very very lucky.
As you have heard, a private school degree will not get you far.
You should go for NTU, all the more since they have already offered you a place.
UOL has full and part time degree course. Depends on what course you want to decide where to go . UOL degree is acceptable by locals firms. Know a UOL banking and finance degree holder worked in UOB. UOL economic degree holder work in govt hospital
You have to consider what is your passion and your desired job after you graduate. Then, choose the uni.
