I recently received an acceptance letter for NTU's Aerospace Engineering programme, but I'm unsure if I should go for it or opt for NUS's Mechanical Engineering with an option to specialize in Aeronautical Engineering.
From what I know, although NTU prides itself as a school that emphasizes more on science and engineering while NUS excels in law and medicine, it seems like the Mechanical Engineering course at NUS is generally better than NTU, as proven by various international rankings. Additionally, NUS as a whole has a slight advantage in terms of reputation and employability than NTU. However I'm pretty confident that the Aerospace Engineering course at NTU provides more depth and specialization than its Mechanical Engineering programme (w specialization in aeronautics), and the chances of securing a job in the aerospace industry will probably be higher.
So right now I am unsure which is a better choice: NUS's Mechanical Engineering or NTU's Aerospace Engineering? Does anyone have experience in either courses? If the standard of both courses seem to be on par, maybe factor in other incentives like welfare? Would appreciate if anyone can give me some advice.
Thanks! :)
You may like to scan through the course contents and syllabus and check which one you prefer. Given NTU and NUS, which one do you prefer in your instincts?
The aerospace industry is indeed taking off in Sg in Seletar. In 2018 and beyond, there will be the completion of the aerospace aviation hub. So it is a good time to study this course. NTU course is more specialised right?
Distance from home to NUS/NTU needs to be considered too. Last time my classmate travelled from Pasir Ris (his home) to NUS and the journey is 1.5 hrs. No joke.
Are you living in hostel?
Can NUS course provide jobs for other mechanical engineering industry besides aerospace industry?
