Recently received quite a lot of numbers from students who ask me about maths tuition. A little shock to find out that many of them are actually considering retaking A level.
When I was a student, this was rarely heard, but now it is very common and it is very common to hear from parents that it is now harder and harder to get into the local university.
This prompt me to think that our 4 universities all aim to be TOP UNIVERSITY in the world and this is one of the reasons why it is so hard for many to get a place at the local university. I just wonder do we need to have 4 world-class university in Singapore? What do you think?
the question is why not? its either the world or us, Singapore is trying to build an education hub for the world, not only for ourselves to create more job opportunities for our people. Its will be narrow minded to think that too many world-class university is bad. Who start a business or a school with an ideas of mediocracy. (:
i think the problem is that years back students with not so good results can still try for uni and get a place... but situation is different now
No.
Its not getting harder to enter local uni.
How can this be when already more than 1 in 4 students will graduate with a degree and soon the number will become 2 in 5?
It only seems that way when students start congregating at the "choicier" majors.
