I am currently a yr 1 freshman going to be enrolled in accountancy course in one of the polytechnics. Personally, despite choosing the poly route, I would like to take A level H2 Math/ Economic as a private candidate. Can anyone tell me roughly the percentage of sub contents from Local Uni's accountancy course adopted from A level Math/ economic?
Taking as private candidate is ok as enrichment, but you most probably cannot use Math and Econs for entry into uni, cos entry into uni thru A levels require 3H2, 1H1, GP and pass in 2nd lang, and PW.
A level Math and Econs are only foundational to the course of accountancy. Uni econs has a lot of statistical and calculation components.
You need to consider your time management, as poly studies is very busy, and accountancy in poly is a cut throat, hi competition faculty.
Hi Grace 123,
Focus on doing well in the Poly and then enter Uni year 2, jiayou!
Cheers,

no, I will try damm hard to study well in my poly accoutancy..but at the same time, I would like to take H2 math/ economic as an enrichment..to let me learn math in much higher level and to learn more things..i need to know % of uni accountancy adopted from Alevel H2 Math/ economic
btw, u ppl mean I can straight away enter Uni Yr from poly accountancy??? ok, so NTU allows students to enter uni yr 2..but how abt NUS/ SMU???
Hi,
You will learn economics in the accountancy courses in polytechnic and you can consider to take up diplomas plus in advanced engineering math which is equivalent to the pure Maths section of H2 Maths. So, there is no need to take up h2 Econ and h2 Maths.

BTW, you have to take care of your poly GPA. GPA maybe less than 3.9 (chk NTU website) means you may not get into NTU accountancy.
Teenagers are full of fantasies. Do you know how demanding is A level econs and Math?
A level Econs is totally different from undergrad Econs/Biz.
BUT
A level Econs also provides a very very good base for a good understanding of many issues the world faces. But TS mentioned he/she is studying for the sake of beating everyone at studies, so I doubt you would buy this argument.
Not sure also that A level Maths helped for Biz and EC undergrads also, but one can't be too hopeful on that.
If it is for enrichment, there is no need to take the A levels exams.
You just need the notes and materials, which could be easily bought from Popular bookstores.
