they will calculate the cummulative every semester.
then how they add up the GPAs for the three years? Is there a formula to it?
mean of all the modules

Bo tio lah. It is weighted average with the weight being the credit units.
Please see how gpa is calculated in Ngee Ann Poly
http://www.np.edu.sg/aa/grade/Pages/exam_credit.aspx
It is sum of credit units x grade points divided by the total number of credit units.

yup got formula. dont ask me whats the formula.
i forget already.
Yes
For my diploma, every semester there will be a semester GPA, as well as a cumulative GPA.
The cumulative GPA for the very first semester of your course will be the same as the first semester's GPA, as you do not have a "previous cumulative GPA".
However, from the second semester onwards, things starts to get harder. If your second semester's GPA drop, your cumulative will drop as well.
Maybe i will share with you my own experience on the dangers of not working hard in poly.
When i first entered poly, my first semester was easy, i got a GPA 4.0.
During my second semester, i have to handle a total of 8 modules, I scored 5As and 3B+. My semester GPA was 3.791, and this caused my cumulative GPA to drop from 4.0 to 3.816. Luckily the modules which i scored B+ have lower credit units, if not my GPA will go even lower
During my 3rd semester(2nd year already), i have 6 modules to handle, and i scored C and C+ for modules with higher credit units, my semester GPA was 3.135, and my cumulative dropped from 3.816(from the previous semester) to 3.580
