Hi,
I took my GCE 'A' level several years ago and was surprised at my performance with a U. However by God's grace, I am currently pursuing the course of my interest in NTU and have passed the Qualifying English Test (QET). Thereafter, I am also exempted from the university's English Profiency module.
While all have been smooth sailing for me, it has been a dilemma in me as to whether I should retake my GP paper in the coming A levels year. Although I have registered as a private candidate to take it last year in the course of my studies, I backed out upon the registration's closing date. This was a decision made due to my peers who were questioning my purpose and informing me of the rebundancy in such move.
Basiclally, I was told that having a GP grade in a several year's sitting apart would not make much difference in future. Thus, it will be a waste of money and effort. So in the nutshell, it would means: to move on.
Though as much as I can understand their reasons, I am constantly questioning myself about my performance during that year, or rather is having a U truly reflective of my language ability. Thus, I have thought of going for it to see for myself. Even if the result is not ideal, I will still embrace my flaws and improve on it in the future. As all I want to know is a answer and I would not wish to leave any question marks in my life.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you for hearing me out. This year will perharps be my last year having thoughts on re-attempt. Please kindly advise if I should retake it this year.
Warmest Regards.
It may be good to retake this paper, as it may be your heart's desire, and also for future scholarship/ employment purposes.
I believe that given your prose in your post, your grade will be much better!
I believe there is no necessity since you are already in the university, and have passed the QET.
It would be more important to focus on getting good grades for your uni results
