I really want to get into good junior college, preferably a jc that is nearer :X I live in jurong west so my
1st choice -Anglo Chinese Jc
2nd choice- Jurong Jc
3rd choice- Pioneer Jc
However, It is pretty nerve wrecking that this year is my o level :( I took 8 subjects : English, A math, E math, Pure Bio, Pure Chem, Geo elective/ss, chinese and dnt. I regretted that last year, I was a procrastinator and my liberal attitude makes me permissive where I always study at last minute for test and exams. My A math is improving tremendously from F9 last year to B3 however my chinese is dropping as I did really badly for my paper 2 as well as paper 1 test. I know if I can't get at least a D7 for chinese o level, my chances of going to jc is going to be ''gossamer thin''. My english isn't really doing well either where my argumentative essay scored 18/30 and summary 8/15.... Honestly speaking, I am not the naturally the smart student type; I am usually the not-so-bright-student where no studying equals to getting flunked grades and I don't have the photographic memory to remember lots of stuffs. My chem is bad (got a b4) and my bio is just mediocre... I need advice please:( How do you guys work hard for o level?
I need most help on chinese, english, bio and chem. My school is hua yi sec school and I have to tell you, this school is ridiculous... where every express students are expected to take pure science -.- Also, there are at least 3 tests each week and this school boosts of its academic rigor where they push students to work really hard.. For me, it is just a monotonous, budget and heated pressure school for me :X
Ask your "smarter" classmates to help you or get tuition for your weaker subjects?
If you have an problem in composition writing and essay, these are the resources :

If you think that the studying for O levels is so monotonous and boring and unrewarding etc etc, why do you even want to go to a JC in the first place?
You realise pure science is practically a pre-requisite for taking science subjects in JC for Sc-course?
You realise its a path to much more intensive studying for the next 5 years at least?
Don't even start thinking about "good" JCs!
Here's something from the NUS Confessions Page which I hugely agreed with:
Actually, hard work doesn't equate to results in examinations. That assumes, arrogantly, that the people who have more talent than you don't work hard. The main determinant of how high your results will go is how much natural ability in that subject you were born with. The only thing is that if you 'don't' work, you will throw away what you were given. In a bell curve system like this, don't even think of getting into the first class level if you don't already have that kind of ability, you're wasting your own time. Just figure out how to have the best time you can in uni while working hard enough to keep the second-upper level. Or if in second-lower, work hard enough to keep that, and don't have any dreams of getting above that. Lowering your expectations, giving up on battles you cannot win, gives you the time and energy to fight those battles you can win - and there are a LOT of them. There's a lot of other things you can do in uni except study - networking, CCAs, internships - and if you plan this well you can have an edge over people with higher honours classes than you. But if you insist on fighting impossible battles, you will simply fail, and have nothing else as an edge over them. The best way to achieve victory is to choose your battles well, and strategically position those choices so as to win wars without ever having to fight battles you can't win. As university students, you should know, and know how to apply this.
