Microsoft Surface Laptop available Jan 24, pre-orders start Jan 10
Microsoft has announced that its Surface Laptop will be available in Singapore starting January 24, 2018. Pre-orders will start tomorrow, Jan 10, at the Microsoft Store, as well as authorized retailers, including Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, LOL by Epicentre, Harvey Norman, and Newstead.
Surface Laptop will also be available for pre-orders for commercial customers via Authorized Device Resellers including AsiaPac Distribution Pte Ltd, JK Technology Pte Ltd, and UIC Asian Computer Services Pte Ltd.
The Surface Laptop is basically a clamshell laptop running Windows 10 S (upgradable to Pro). Weighing 1.25kg and coming in at less than 14.5mm thick, the laptop also touts up to 14.5 hours of battery life. It also sports a 13.5-inch PixelSense Display (protected by Gorilla Glass 3) that’s optimized for touch and inking (works with the optional Surface Pen, of course), and a keyboard that’s covered in luxurious Alcantara material. Only the Platinum version is available though, which is a bummer.
The Surface Laptop will start at S$1,488, and that’s for the Intel Core i5 (Kaby Lake) version, with 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 620. The top-end variant with Core i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 will set you back S$3,888.
Here’s our hands-on with the laptop early last year.
The Surface Book 2 will be coming to Singapore within the next few months
Your wishes have been answered. In a blog post today, Microsoft announced that it would be rolling out the Surface Book 2 to all markets where Surface devices are already available, including Singapore.
The Surface Book 2 is Microsoft’s most powerful Surface machine, and it’s often considered alongside the MacBook Pro by content creators looking for a portable system. The laptop is powered by the latest 8th-generation Intel processors and up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 discrete graphics card, a far cry from something like the Surface Laptop.
It’s also versatile, and the base can be detached to let you use the device as a tablet.
Both 13- and 15-inch models will be made available, and pre-orders are starting today for the latter in select markets.
But beginning in February and continuing through March and April, both screen sizes will roll out to other markets, including Singapore.
The Surface Laptop is arriving on our shores on 24 January as well, so local customers will finally have access to the full range of Microsoft's Surface devices.
We’ve reached out to Microsoft’s local representatives to gather more specifics, and will update once we know more.

Haven’t heard of the Surface Book 2? It’s Microsoft latest high-end laptop and it’s pack with some powerful specs.
The new Surface Book 2 is now available on Microsoft Store Singapore starting from S$2,188 with configurable options. It comes in two models, a 13.5 or 15-inch PixelSense touch-based display, powered by high-speed Intel i5 or i7 processors, up to 16GB RAM and built-in Nvidia graphics processor.
Similar to previous Surface Book, the latest model is able to transition between and work to a gaming laptop that pairs with an Xbox wireless controller or a tablet that works with Surface Pen for design and drawing purposes.
Apart from the launch sale, Microsoft Singapore has also dropped the price on the older Surface Pro – the entry-level model now selling at just S$1,188 (Intel Core m3, 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM), almost $300 lower than its usual price.
