When I pressed the switch on button, my desktop CPU had red light blinking and my computer did not respond. I switched on again, a loud sound and some smoke came out from my CPU. I only want to retrieve my documents from my desktop. If bring to shop and ask the person to retrieve documents for me, how much should it be so it is reasonable? Or is there other things I can do? PS: My desktop is super old..
if the hdd is not damaged the docs shd be able to retrieve
My laptop always gives me a burning smell when I turn it on.
After half an hour, the laptop temperature can probably cook an egg.
I never dare to touch it with my bare hands.
haben assplode?
Just a matter of time.
The sound from the fan damn loud.
That why you should also have the habit of either save your important stuff in either an thumbdrive or an portable harddisk.
HDD shldn't have problem... U should be able to transfer your data from your harddisk.
You can retrieve the file if you have another PC (or go to friends house)... if you dunno how to connect the HDD then you go shop will cost $$$...
If there is a strong metal smell (ozone smell actually) then it shld be your PSU that is damaged...
In the mean time, please do not try to on your PC...
One of those instance where the PC tries to smoke you...
Finally come up with funny punchline.
Come I clap for you.
Warning: 6 Surefire Ways of Blowing Up Your Computer Due to an Inadequate Power Supply : http://www.hardware-revolution.com/warning-6-surefire-ways-of-blowing-up-your-computer-due-to-an-inadequate-power-supply
Your need to check up with CPU to some technical hardware expert. If your computer is not starting then there is big issue inside. You should save copy of your important documents in drive not on desktop. Because if you only saved your documents on desktop then there is less chances to get back those files. And if you know better buying a new CPU is very costly. In this case I'd recommend first to check your SMPs, check is there any problem of power supply or any damage to it to not. To check with another test procedure would be, if your PC computer absolutely will not boot up, a savvy computer owner can remove the hard drive and place it in a working machine. With most desktop PCs, this is actually a pretty easy procedure, and it’s a quick way to find out if the hard drive is damaged beyond repair. If you're finally able to boot up the hard drive, you may need to use hard disk file recovery software.
The best hard drive recovery software will allow you to restore potentially lost files from a damaged hard drive. Once you’re able to access the old drive, whether from safe mode or installed in a working machine. After this, you can run the recovery software and begin copying over those important files. Hope this will help you out to get your files.
