I recently got a new computer (or rather an old one), and it's specs are as follows:
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)
System Model: HP xw4600 Workstation
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 3568MB RAM
Card name: Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
As you can see, the graphics card is pretty outdated. Do you have any recommendations as to what graphics card i should purchase such that my system can support it? Also, i would like to use this computer for gaming, such as SC2, D3, BF3 etc etc. Any help is really really apprecated. Many thanks in advance.
Even if you put in a 2gb vram card, bottle neck is still on your processor power and ram. It just won't work.
Is my processor very weak? I apologize, i am reather ignorant of these matters
Quite, plus the fact you are running a 32bit system, it just won't cut it. You are better off trading it in for a new one.
Do you buy the PC from HP directly ? If it is you can always called their helpdesk's hotline to check with them which graphics card is suitable for upgrade.

check the games you wanna play system requirements. if your gf card still can make it it can play. at minimum requirements games wil be choppy. at recommened or higher specs game should be smoother.
dont check with OEM manufacturer, they will chop you carrot to purchase their card.
as long as the card interface (pci-e x16) is correct, most mid range or higher end cards should work on the board. only bottleneck is at processor as what ditzy wrote.
hey i play d3 so i actually did a brief research on this game on my pc last yr...1st of all yr processor is n mem size is ok but yr current gpu cant support d3 due to lack of pixel shader 3 support.

since d3 came out the lastest among the 3 game(not sure) so i presumed its more resources demanding..
