Sorry i'm experienced with modifying my computer. Currently I have a 2gb ram on windows vista 64-bit on my desktop. I wanna upgrade my ram to 4gb(or more if its possible and cheap).
My Processor is: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
I got this computer back at 2009.
Where can I buy a cheap 4gb ram and how much would it be?
There are many types of RAM available.
First you need to know what type of RAM your computer is running on, it could be DDR2 or DDR3.
Based on the date of computer purchased and processor, i presume most likely your computer is running on a DDR2 RAM, though there could be a chance that you may be running on DDR3.
After which, you need to ensure that your computer has enough physical room for more RAM. This can be seen by opening up your PC casing, and look at how many empty RAM slots there are available on the motherboard.
Not worry, a 64 bit windows can recognise&utilise lots of RAM.
If you are not very sure, i recommend that you bring your PC to a friendly shop in sim lim square and have them install it for you.
They shouldn't charge you/very little service charge at all(except for the RAM) for a simple ram installation, and test if your computer recognises the newly installed RAM.
As for RAM prices, i am not sure of the current price, however base on experience, normal performance RAM prices are quite competitive and the cost should'nt differ a lot from shops to shops.
