Anyone knows if this is possible? I want to host some servers without using the dyndns. I call M1, one staff say can, another staff from M1 says cannot, WTF, are they both from M1!
Please advise.
It's totally possible, but whether they will let you on a residential connection or not will be the issue and only they can answer that.
Just keep calling back until you get the one that says can, then get them to take the order.

If you really need to use static ip at home, i have some not-so-good ideas. To do this, your internet cannot be cut off at any time. Purchase a static ip from somewhere, I'm not sure if setting your own will work. Put the IP add. on your server. bingo.
if not necessarily at home, i'm sure there are services by the ISPs and with a fee, they will host your server.
Yeah I can host the servers for a fee with them but I don't want. I want to put my private files inside the server, some confidential like for example my Will and all my login passwords if tomorrow I pass away... someone with physical access to the server will be able to retrieve it even if I use a password to lock the OS.
Does it have to be M1? If you are able to change provider, there are one that can provide static IP.
