Hi. I hope this is the right section to ask this.
I've just came back from my holiday for a week last night and I realised my house telephone and internet cannot be used. So this morning a singtel technician came to fix it and told me my telephone line at the corner of the HDB block has been pulled off by someone while I'm away on holiday.
Any possibility someone has been using my telephone and internet line while I'm away?
Thanks for your response! (:
they can do it.. they can do that to anyone if they want to..
however, who are you that they actually go through all the hassle to do it?
i think some prankster did it.
Thread starter, yes, your telephone and internet line can be tapped (old fashioned method) is by connecting your line to the culprit's computer
any traffic or msg going through this line goes into the culprit's line as well. he can also "borrow" your line as well.
The downside is the culprit must be physically close to the line and if not alert enough, can get caught on the spot
there are other more advanced methods of hacking, though. especially internet
Tap your phone line yes. He make calls, you pay.
Internet no. He must have a dail up modem and your password to set up connection.
Well actually Internet yes.
It's not that hard to crack wep internet connections
Heck, some connections are even unsecured (how secure is that?!)
with regards to the wires being pulled away, have you asked the technicians if these boxes were locked/wires exposed/ the probability of it coming out by itself (due to acts of nature) and are you the only one who have your wires removed..
