Hello everyone!
It's been a while and i'm thinkIng of getting a laptop, a budget one.
Here are my criteria,
Price: below 800
Size: 14Inches
Specs: minimum i3 or i5, 3gb ram, dedicated graphics card.
I guess thats all for now.
Will add on when i think of more.
So give your suggestions!
Thanks!
Question, what is it going to be used for?
Hey eagle!
Not gaming, thats for sure. Say, surf net, watch movies, youtube, fb & twitter.
Thats all. Cause i had bad exp last time with gaming on my kappy, so nowadays i dont date to game on a laptop.
So yeah, does that answer your qn eagle?
yep!
I will say there are many such laptops from all brands out on the market, fitting your budget and usage
I think the dell website gives a pretty good idea of what you can expect. The price looks ok to me too.

You might want to check out other brands in other shops or during IT fairs :)
im oso looking for a new laptop
and im considering asus
Alright! But due to my dell desktop arriving tmr, i'll be putting my laptop on hold first!
FI, any asus model in mind?
Asus is good.
Why do people still buy prebuilt desktop PCs nowadays. >.>
There's no value in it...
Here's a simple comparison.
Acer Aspire G Series (i5) - S$1,899
- i5 2500
- mATX motherboard (ECS H61)
- 8GB DDR3-1333
- NVIDIA GT520
- 400W FSP PSU (Non-80PLUS)
- 1.5TB Seagate HDD
- 24x DVD-RW
- 23" TN-LED Acer Display
- Keyboard and Mouse
But for much less, around S$1,600 I can offer you more balance for gaming:
- i5 2400
- mATX motherboard (ASRock Z68)
- 8GB DDR3-1333
- MSI R6850 Cyclone (This thing blows the GT520 right out the water...)
- 400W FSP Aurum Series PSU (80PLUS Gold; which means 90+% energy efficient)
- 2TB Hitachi Deskstar HDD
- 24x DVD-RW
- 23" Dell U2312HM eIPS LED Display
- Logitech USB Keyboard and mouse (or for ~$150 more, a Rosewill RK9000 Mech and a CM Storm SPAWN Mouse)
So why do people still buy from big-box companies?
Especially when the desktop warranty is something appalling like just 1 year?
I offer a 1 year warranty to my customers when I build, and when that's over the individual parts have warranty terms lasting for up to 5 years.
Not to forget that I configure all my systems with 'overkill cooling'. Which means you get a large, 3-pipe heatsink with server fans on it and around the casing. And yet it can be dead silent. You don't, or rather, will never see this from a brand-name PC.
I'm not advertising, I'm just trying to make people see the light in the DIY PC market.
Not everyone in Sim Lim is a scammer, and not every DIY PC is a piece of crap with a shit power supply that explodes.
If you find the right people, you'll get a good deal for your money.

Hey dude. I assume from your last few sentences that you work at SLS right? I would like to get some spare parts if you carry em. At least i know you can be trusted.
Mind letting me know the name of the shop?
Originally posted by mr music:is your service free ?
Obviously not.
Service fees are already part of the $1600 mentioned.
I wouldn't put up a post advertising at such a low cost and then telling people 'of course, service fees not included'...
I'm not out to make money. I am an enthusiast, and I want as many people as possible to experience what it is like to have a proper, well-built system.

I work independently.
The last few sentences were placed since most people would probably get their rig from SLS and not me anyway.
I can get parts for you, but I don't guarantee 'a good price' because prices fluctuate all the time.
What I can guarantee though, is market rate. Just let me know what you want and I'll see if I can arrange for you to collect it at my partner store.
