The receiver is just a small wireless transmitter/receiver that is connected to your usb port. As long as your don't remove it from that particular port, I don't see how it would be damaged.
There are various factors to consider
1) the D+ and D- pins (data) in the cable is shorted by default renders it only for charging
2) if the keyboard supports using usb - drivers will have to depend on Logitec - a look at logitec's website proves no documentation or refences about using it connected to the USB
Taking into account these factors and your concerns, why don't you just get a USB keyboard instead?
True true. but ehh *ahem*...i am quite the careless type of person and have a tendency to mishandle my electronic gadgets sometimes. Such as not ensuring that the USB Head is position correctly before plugging in. So...yea. hehe...
as to why i am not getting a USB keyboard instead. Reason is i would like to have both the options of using the keyboard wirelessly and wired-ly. Hence my quest begins on finding out if i can use some other cable that is capable of powering up the K800 and also allow data transferring to and fro...both at the same time.
Thank you for your answers (^^)
There are other brands that definitely allows dual purpose - wireless and wired - albeit not at the same time of course - you have to search around out there on the market.
haha...already searched. K800 is the closest to my ideal keyboard. features, design, capabilities, etc. i don't really need those gaming stuff though like micro/macro keys or some really fanciful media stuff.
so yea...(^^)
