Contrary to some reports that the new iPad launch is being delayed to Mar 19, it is still on course to be released on Mar 16.
Apple Australia - which oversees the Singapore market - confirmed that the new iPad will be launched in Singapore on Mar 16. Ms Fiona Martin, corporate communications director of Apple Australia, said it was an incorrect wire story that caused the confusion globally. They are currently working with the reporter to correct the story.
Singapore will be one of the first 12 countries in the world to receive the new iPad. Other countries include Hong Kong, Germany, Australia, the United States (US), France, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom and the US Virgin Islands.
The new iPad will sport a high resolution display, new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video recording. Prices start from $658 for a 16GB Wi-Fi only version to $1,088 for a 64GB Wi-Fi+4G edition. However, the new iPad will not be able to support the local 4G network.

Mobile apps development is the next big wave.
Universities and insititutions of higher learning all over the western world are imparting this important skillset to their people, esp the young people.
Why is our country so slow in teaching mobile apps development?
Last checked. Only Republic Poly is starting a full time 3 yrs programme in mobile apps dev beginning from acad yr 2012.
Anyone know of good place to learn mobile apps dev?
ipad3 only has a better screen resolution and camera only right compared to ipad2?

Silicon Valley maybe.
Apple didn't even label the new Ipad as Ipad 3. Its just known as the new Ipad. And they didn't raise the prices either. And don't bother to preorder.

Probably there will be subtle changes to the exterior so that the new ipad doesnt fit the ipad 2's casing ..
Always happens .. just like the iphone 4 and the 4s
so who's gonna get the ipad 3 ah
Not me, i'm happy with my HP touchpad.

small subtle changes ..
they said on the Iphone 4s better camera, and processor.
never say about the hidden changes.
most of the time, their changes are always not many otherwise how to continue the "number"
i think it is not IPAD3 per say.
Funnily, it seems Apple is starting to play with the name that they are giving to the products. Not sure whether to entice or to confuse the buyers.
some marketing strategy/gimmick perhaps

I read that mobile apps development will die as we get better in developing mobile websites. Even if it's not the next few years, it's likely to die out, due to convergence and improvements in technologies.
a gd read
Ipad Mini to be released later this year.

What you said is true.
All my previous uni programming knowledge coming to waste, mobile apps dev dont need programming skills any more.
HTML5 is already website-mobile enabled. As we speak, HTML5 is still evolving.
The future waves are
1) mobile apps-website convergence (more so than now).
2) tablet pc-handphone convergence.
The last wave will be the emergence of the ubiquitous smart devices!

IPad mini
This is something interesting. I wonder if it can bridge the ipad and the iphone.

Not really.
Similar to desktop PCs, it's not very likely to die out completely and just become extinct. Desktop PCs still have their uses and advantages.
The same will apply to mobile apps. Apps like games, office suite is not suitable on the web platform. They will still need a native apps to perform their best. I will say it will end up being so niche that only a few companies will be doing it.
For apps such as Facebook, LinkedIn, they are more likely to go the way of dinosaurs as it's not feasible to create and maintain apps for Apple, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, etc. Mobile sites will take up this role, probably through HTML5.
Smart devices need the support of smart infrastructure as well. I like how Japan and Korea integrated various services together, like using their smartphones to pay for transport. Singapore still has a long way to go in this area. We are in some ways quite disintegrated.
