I am using Singtel broadband and I should receive a speed of 10 mb/s. However, my actual speed is at about 4 mb/s r sometimes 2-3 at nights around 9pm to 12pm. It is woefully slow even I can't watch youtube. Anyone has the same problem with Singtel?
I called singtel many times but nobody helped me. They said it might be becoause of my mio white modem but I tried even direct cable but didnt work. They introduce me a web speed test a insing but it shows a good speed. When I am using speedtest.net it shows much slower.
Can anyone help me to change some settings in pc or install any software to surf faster? at least temprorary until I change my ISP to another company? not sure if Stathub service s better any idea?

That's probably what they didn't inform you about.
When you signed up MIO, you're actually sharing part of the connectivity with the television broadcasting waves. 10mbps... user will experience problem from time to time. Actual problem arises when user switch a television channel while the internet user is surfing internet e.g. Youtube.
We finally had enough of the bad connectivity and disruptions, so we changed it to Fibre. Still have to wait for many months.
Recently there are a joint venture between four partners – Axia NetMedia (Axia), Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Singapore Power Telecommunications (SPT) called Opennet : http://www.opennet.com.sg which if we want to use their high speed fibre network service, we can just visit any Internet Service Provider that uses OpenNet fibre for the 100Mbps fibre broadband packages.Anyone use their service and have positive result ?
when its new its fast coz not many pple using but once many pple start to jump onto the fibre bandwagon then haha that's when there's gonna be a "traffic jam" liao

Yes, you can just visit any ISP
Starhub, Singnet, Super Internet, Pacnet, Myrepublic, Viewquest
to sign up for Fibre broadband services provided that
1)The Opennet terminal junction (box) has been installed at your residence AND 2) Ensure that your building is ready for next Gen NBN services
How to check the status of your building after the installation of the opennet box (terminal junction)

It is a good information about internet speed.........
Like the same way , i check my internet speed everyday..........both downloading & uploading speed through this site http://www.scanmyspeed.com/
My speed test results are,
upload speed:0.52 kbps
download speed:1.96 kbps
It has the best & accurate results for my internet speed test and i download it without flash or java or any other add on..........
hi all, i'm using m1 @$45 for 100mps and did a test internet speed at http://www.speedtest.com.sg/speedtest.php and found to clock about 40,000kbps for both upload and download. i had vetted through a few internet service provider and found m1 the cheapest.
go to the mio modem page via 192.168.1.254/mdc
the password is 2wire
click on statistic on the left column. Check your DSL down and up. For 10 mbps,
you shld get around 19k down and 1k up. If not, call the technician down to change the wire pair leading to your phone jack.

The problem with local speedtests like that one, is that it only shows you your speed to a local Singapore server - which of course will be faster than if accessing sites outside of Sg.
When doing a test on speedtest.net you should select your server in the USA ( I think LA for Youtube) or where the websites hosted to see accurate line speed.
