Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm carrying out some research about ISPs (Internet Service Providers) in Asia- Pacific for my website. From what I've come to know, M1 is the overall best ISP in SG... but I can't confirm this statement. I'm also aware that the majority of surfers are not satisfied with StarHub's and SingNet's services. I would appreciate if you guys could share your experience/ knowledge on your internet services. It would be much appreciated. Thank you !
best ISP in SG does not exist
thank you very much
Hi Admin, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter. I appreciate it.
And thanks for moving this thread to the IT Support and Tech Corner too.
I use SingNet, and I have to say, the internet speed itself isn't too bad when using a DSL connection. There are times where my internet can disconnect for a full 4 minutes and this frustrates me alot as this happens almost daily. I'm not too sure whether this is a wire problem but the fact that the wires were changed only 2 years ago probably points towards singnets fault. Hope it helps. :)
Read that subscribers to fibre optic also not getting good service. You can forget about best ISP in singapore. No such thing as best. Service of the three ISP all no good.
I am curently using M1. Problematic!
let's say....... there are 2,000 ppl on M1
100 complained abt problems
there are 50,000 ppl on singtel
3456 complaints
and M1 is actually sub from ST
so less ppl complain (bcos less ppl use) is the better ISP?
best ISP as in uptime? speed? how long someone answers your call when you call the hotline? %age of issues resolved? after-sales service?
I doubt the ISP are interested to provide good service. They are all under the same management. All profits they make go to the same management.

Your statements coicide with what some of my other friends told me. In short, there is quantity, as in high download speed but poor quality, as in poor quality of service. I doubt it is a wire problem though, if you live in a HDB then usually the wiring is excellent. Landed property is a different story. Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it.

Really ? M1 is no good ? Ok, you just re- wrote the textbook. I thought M1(SingTel) was the telco leader in SEA ? Oh well. How is M1 problematic ? I would appreciate if you could elaborate a little on the matter. And yeah, you're totally right. SingNet monopolises the last mile service in Singapore right ? It's the same case here with TM... as a consequence, wireless 4G and WiMAX service is becoming more popular. Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it.

There are many factors which contribute to the success or failure of an ISP. Among them; Quality of Service, Download & Upload Speeds, Quota, Customer Service, Availability, Cost, Technology, Customer Satisfaction, Quality of Hardware and many more. What you said it absolutely right. If the service is good, the customer will be satisfied, or at least, not complain. If the ratio of complaints to non- complaints is low, the ISP is good. In your figures, the ratio in M1 is 0.05. SingTel's is 0.07. So I guess this makes M1 the superior ISP. Of course, these are not official figures lah... God knows what the real numbers are. For the most part, a good ISP can be judged using a scientific and mathematical approach. If too many things fail, then the product ultimately fails as well. A product can only fail or succeed if the overall produce exceeds or falls short of expactation. No one factor can justify the success/ failure of the product. At the end of the day, most people just judge based on personal experience. Conclusion; we will never get solid answers. That's why we need as much feedback as possible.
All suck lah
all ISPs shd be cheaper, better, faster.

I think internet in SG is cheap and fast enough. It's just the quality of service that needs looking into. Gradual roll- out of fibre optics and better QoS will solve the problem. It's a matter of time really.
