When is hard disk speed important?

  Hi!

   

  I currently have a Intel X25-V and I am thinking of a possibility of an upgrade, thus I need to weigh the benefits of a faster drive(SSD).

  I do know that most application transfer data to RAM so no need to access HDD when using.

  So I would like to know how >which application/when is hard disk speed< important?
