Hi, I have a HP G62 laptop, and I wish to get the cooling fan changed. Does anyone here know a shop that sells the fan as well as do the change for me? Also, how much would this kind of gig cost?
If your system is still under warranty, send it back to HP for servicing. But if you're asking, your warranty probably expired.
Check places like SLS for a quote, but beware of the seedier places. Though from my experience, looks are deceiving.
Anyway, what problems are you facing with the current fan?

Yes, my warranty is up. The problem is that my fan has completely stopped working. I know this because there is no sound and there is no hot air blowing out. The operating temperature often goes crazy and my computer lags like crazy, especially when I play videos.
I had good experience with this firm before, winsys @ SLS.
(They replaced the whole mobo of my laptop - a HP Dv2000 which has a graphics card defect - if interested you can google it up... it's a manufacturing defect). Still serving me well till today around a year now. *touches wood*
Note, the other bros here are more seasoned vets of SLS, and you should listen to their advice and reccommendations compared to mine. :D Go around and get a quote before deciding which one you trust most.

Can you remember which floor this 'winsys' is on?
Also, do any one of you know how much a new fan and the service of changing fan costs?

No sadly. check the directories..
I remember winsys is next to a shop selling alot of small computer accessories from laptop keyboard skins, laptop skins... led lights etc
Price i can't specify.. there's generic and oem. Generic is compatiable parts (non original). OEM = original equiptment manufacturers' parts. Though the human dynamics of SLS is.. You can't really know which part they install.. (since they can either install generic parts when you specify OEM.) and OEM even still may not gurantee it being original.
Don't be fooled by people at sls telling you that fan and mobo are complete packages and you have to change the motherboard too... The fan can be deteched from the mobo.. it is not soldered
