Those are just USB adaptors which you use if your computer doesnt come with integrated wireless. What you require is actually a wireless repeater.

yes you are right. it's a current amplifier that will increase the signal range enabling you to surf further away
you might also want to consider this, since you mentioned you are 45 M (150feet) away from your router

- Connect an Ethernet cable output from the back of your wireless router to this device as shown above. Then plug it into the powersocket.
- Connect the companion (the receiver end) into a power socket at your desk/workspace. Then connect another Ethernet cable from there to your PC
The genius of this would be that internet signals are transmitted via the powerline socket itself, it's plug and play essentially.Depending on the brands, the range might vary.

Using the powerline adaptor causes very high latency, not recommend if latency is important.
