I have a sony vaio laptop VGN-CR11GH/L with windows 7 system. I tried downloading the driver for my webcam but it says it works in vista only. Any idea how to get my webcam working again? :(
Just to clarify a few things
-Does your OS come out of the box as Windows 7 or does it come with Vista?
-Did you get the driver from Sony's support page - here
There's actually 2 ways to workabout this.
- Before you click on setup exe (Right click on the setup, click on Properties, compatibility, compatibility mode and choose Windows vista under the options)
- Use another driver from a similar but newer model.
First you neber say which camera which model and brand.
Second if you got marnie to buy sony vaio, you sure got marnie to buy another cam.
I presume he's referring to the built in 1.3 mega pixle camera in his laptop
oh! you are a fellow android modder too?

maybe ts upgraded to 7 and that where the problem comes.. -- no drivers -- from what I see, ts's model comes only with Vista/ Xp.
I root/applanet/overclock/custom rom .. no multi touch cause custom rom developers found a critical problem with the multi touch patch that will spoil the screen. Once you come to the dark side, you never want to go back to offical releases anymore

i still using stock ROM, cause custom ROM takes too long for newer releases.

I'm on HTC. If I am on Samsung, I would also load a custom ROM.
lol i have no idea what is going on. i suck in IT stuffs. didnt i mention the model?
so by using the restoration CD, i can use the webcam? but isnt that meant for vistas only? since im using windows 7 now

If you are using the camera that comes with the notebook and assuming your default installation/restoration disc runs on Vista, it does not work with the original camera since it was for Windows 7. (Note: since you never really explained from the beginning exactly either whether it was a camera that comes with the notebook with OS upgraded from Vista to Win7)
Even though you have the notebook model, certain notebook assemblers do provide different specifications (and thus, different parts for similar models), therefore, a need to establish the exact model and brand of camera which they had obtained. Some OEM manufacturers do provide their drivers on their own sites.
Assuming your model is default to what Sony originally assembled... and you have no clue but have the setup file for installing the camera, you can perform the following:

Yea. it's a camera that comes with the laptop and upgraded from windows vista to windows 7.
i tried the link you gave but it's still the same.

Try this.
