Seriously, dont travel all the way to the IT fair to buy external harddisk.....
Don't go to the IT fair for friends' gatherings.
If you need something like powerpoint or office, look at this chart: http://reviews.cnet.com/1991-3524_7-5140428-2.html?tag=txt
If you are buying PCs, PC/IT fairs promotions may not be cheaper/better than the store in your nearest electronic stores.
Let's not deviate too far from it shall we
Anyways, during the IT fair/show period there will be island wide discounts anyways -though maybe not as much as at the fairs, but you do not have to travel there, squeeze with the crowd and queue queue queue to pay....
Thanks guys!!!
How about sim lim tower?
I went there twice....walking around but most of the shop never display the price.

Sim Lim Tower? You mean Sim Lim Square.
Anyway, only travel to SLS if you need to customize your own desktops.
If you really need a desktop and dont want to customize, I will always advise to go to your nearby electronic store and be done with it.
I used to do sales so I know the prices doesn't deviate from IT fairs nowadays, if it does, there is a slight component change which most buyers won't even notice.
However, if you are looking for the latest design from the brands, then they usually launch with the fairs at a promotional price. Or if you don't mind an existing dated model they are usually trying clear, you can visit the fairs.

Towers sell lots of engineering components - ic chips/multi meters/ fans etc.
The safer bet for you would be to head down to Funan.. plenty of stores there (and a large challenger) but mostly they are of the same price...
ehhhhh... kenn3th... does simlim tower sell switches??? as in on/off switch...
my home PC de switch seems to spoil le... either tat or my PSU spoil, which explains why my com parts keep failing one by one recently...

power socket ?
Hmm Switches shouldn't really spoil if you really seethe mechanics of it. Basically just some plastic, wires etc.
You can check.. (if there isn't there's always square.. walking distance)
Don't normally switches come as a set with the casing?

On/off switch can be mobo wor... cos power LED and power SW controlled by the mobo.

Casing/Chasis switch i think acid is talking about. Unless acid is talking about some PSU with on/off switch at the back which I don't think you ever switch off.......
yeah... me talking abt casing switch...
I need to manually extract it out from the casing, so now the on/off button is not on my casing power button slot, but rather on my table... I just click it to on my com...
but okay okay, I shld really change my PSU since it has been haunting me for quite a long time that my PSU might be faulty...

is it by any chance a big red button?
If it's haunting you, for a peace of mind, change it.

Change the chasis.
PSU is not faulty because PSU faulty, won't even power up. Or it will power down by itself. Or devices have insufficient power output.

well, the PSU might be faulty and provide uneven power output which will slowly surge other parts over a long period of time... think of it as something like eh ... ... ... cancer...

You mean power surge? Older PSUs does that.
Usually first symptom of power surge = sudden pc shutdown error.

Usually for power surges, I change 2 things.
1. Mobo
2. Chasis with PSU
