Western Digital Carvier Green 2TB ~$155

NZXT M59 ATX Casing ~$100
Total: ~$1863
and , how much much does the rig you mentioned cost?
don't go fuwell, there's a shop at basement, right next to the carpark, a bit ulu, shop auntie nice lady and her price lower than shops above. can go there check out price for parts, or if you want her to build for you. but best is you buy the parts and assemble yourself, who knows what the hell ppl do to your pc. assembling the parts is not difficult, just read the manuals.
and you say whether your spec fits or not, i don't understand what you mean, but buying pc is all about your budget, you big budget, you buy powerpack machine, small budget, you buy what you can pay for. gaming is mainly graphic card and processor must be solid, the rest depend on budget liao.
performance wise, you try buy both specs and test lor lol... not possible right, then see what your budget is and buy what you can pay for lor. limited budget, then focus on getting good graphic card and good processor, the rest adjust a bit can liao.

The rig I specced out will set you back about $2.4k at most?
But the graphics card + CPU are better performing than the rigs you specced out (or Ctrl-C Ctrl-V from the stickied thread XD)
If you ask if the parts are compatible with each other, then yes, they are. They will work fine, though they are last-gen components.
I prefer to get my stuff from Best Price Computers, Bell Systems or myNextcom on the 5th floor. They're quite friendly and will assist you if needed.
oh ok thanks. yup , that was what i was asking >.< cos scared change little bit then whole thing cannot le LOL and anw , what can i get with a budget of 2k? no monitor or OS?dont need too big hard disk , 1 TB enough le :X

Oh. For 2k, without the monitor or OS, the set-up I specced will do fine for a few years. It should cost about 1.8k to 1.9k.
Core i7 2600K + Asrock P67 EXTREME4 - $700
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz CL9 kit - $195
Samsung 1TB HD103SJ - $75
Gigabyte HD6970 2GB - $539
DVD Writer - $35
Seasonic M12II 620W - $135
Casing: Anywhere from $100 to $250. Pick a case that appeals to you. My recommendations would be the Cooler Master CM690II Advanced for the stealthy, sleek yet affordable system or the Lian-Li PC-8FI for a sophisticated, unassuming yet very powerful machine.
Total cost: <$1894
Not including things like aftermarket coolers and whatnot, though. No bling-bling included with this package.

oh thanks. i like the NZXT m59 case , will it fit? also, where did you get your prices from? and how much does it cost for them to build it for you?
btw , is the rig you specified able to run current games like starcraft 2 and the such on max settings? sorry for so many questions :P

The NZXT M59 is an ATX case and will therefore fit all the components inside. It's a great budget gaming case, IMO. Good choice.
I get my prices from Bell Systems. They can build it for you, wouldn't cost more than $100, but I don't exactly know, since I always build my own. I think it's about $40 for system installation?
The HD6970 2GB was built to run games on the highest settings on 2560x1600, so running a game like SC2 on maximum on 1920x1080 will be no problem whatsoever.
If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
oh okay thanks for you help (:
cheers~
omg just realised that bell systems doesnt have the nzxt m59 case.
in your opinion , which case is better? the nzxt guardian 921 case or the nzxt tempest? i feel like im bombarding you with questions :X so sorry haha
btw , do you know the prices? it doesnt seem to be on their price list

I prefer the Tempest, though the Guardian 921 may appeal to some. The Guardian is a bit too brash and savage IMO.
Try potterhouse.net for the casing. They have A LOT.
haha what do you mean by brash and savage? i need to get them to build it for me , so i cant buy a case from somewhere else , can i?
what about operating system?
4gb of ram is too little...graphic card is rather normal...get 6970 from sapphire or msi. Why the need for xfx? it's the cheapest?

Hmm, I think Bell Systems does sell the M59, just that they don't list it. You can also try Video Pro or Best Price, they stock most, if not all the parts, used in the rig. They should also carry the M59. Dunno what happened to the casings in the pricelist.
The Guardian just looks too alien-ish, IMO.
EDIT: They do. M59 retails at $100 at Bell Systems.
haha ok thanks (: which would u recommend of the 2? guardian 921 or m59?

To me, between those two, it's just a matter of aesthetics. Go for whichever one looks nicer to you, because that's all that really sets them apart from each other.
:O does the core i7 2600K come with thermal paste pre applied? or do i have to buy it? decided to build it myself and save some money

The stock cooler has some thermal paste pre-applied. Aftermarket coolers (usually) include thermal paste as well.
oh , then how do i ground myself? do i have to buy the wristband or is there another way?

Don't wear socks.
Touch anything that's already grounded before handling the PC components, like the casing of another PC that's plugged in.
but im working away from my current pc , so the best solution is an anti static band? how much does one cost btw? 1 time use

Will you be near anything grounded?
what are some examples of grounded things?
Originally posted by ExoFile:what are some examples of grounded things?
The TV, standing fans, laptop adapters, stuff like that.
Though you have to touch a grounded metal surface .
What I suggest you to do is touch the metal PC casing first, then install the PSU into the casing. Plug in the power cord and switch the PSU on (The switch on both the unit and the wall. Don't plug in anything else). Your PSU is now grounded. Touch it, then you can safely handle the other components.
