NetBook : Window 7 Starter....

  Hi Everybody

   

  Please advise me what should I do.

   

  I bought the netbook during the IT fair. (Nov 2010).

   

  Last night my kid show me that the netbook unable to access the words/excels anymore due to the window 7 has expired. (that is strange).

   

  Also the background suddenly change to black instead of having the logo of window 7 starter.

   

  At the below right hand corner of the screen, it say window starter is not a geniue product. That is strange.

   

  What should I do?

  Should I call the company that I bought the netbook?

  What is the outcome if I approach the company since it is still under 2 yr warranty.

   

  Your advise is greatly appreciated.

  Do this. 

  Start

  Under the blank: then type "activate windows. "

  An option will appear. 

  Click on it.

  I tried to activate windows but was prompt

  1 active windows online now

   2 buy a new product key

  3 retype your product key

  4 see other ways to activate

  Whe  I took open 1, it prompt for product key which I dont have.

  Fyi..the buttom right hand corner wrote: WINDOWS 7 BUILD 7600 THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE.

  Please help what should I do now?

  Hi Ken and Seow

   

  I hv managed to check the product key, was at the back of the netback.

  Too fine print...unable to see it.

  I am going to activate the windows starter and will let you know.

  There ought to be a Windows Certificate of Authenticity on the bottom of the netbook.

  The COA looks somewhat like this:

  

  The Product key should be there. 

   

   

  If the sticker is not on your netbook, contact the company for assistance. They should be able to help you with it.

  Noted. I saw it, been looking at the fine print till my eyesight blurrrr...

  Seem like I have to activate the words and Excel Starter too.

  How to do it? And now when I click on either Words or Excel, it seem to hang there with a small box : Word starter 2010. And unable to open up the Words or Excel.

  The small box just disappeared.

  Please help.

  Sorry was off for dinner. 
  Have you managed to activate back your Windows? 

  Try retyping your product keys and see if there's any result. 

  Strangely many people are getting such similar problems with OEM operating systems nowadays.

  check windows update, see if you have this update KB971033 installed. if installed, choose to uninstall it, restart computer and try activating windows. if windows update promt you on this update again, hide this update.

  Restart the netbook.

  Go to All Programs

  Next Choose Microsoft Office Starter 2010

  Microsoft Office Starter 2010 (ie Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and Microsoft Excel Starter 2010) will run and no inputting of product key is needed for the activation.

  Ok, I will try that this afternoon.

  My kid has locked his netbook in his cardboard when he went to school this morning. Probably dont want me to mess up this thing when he's not around..LOL....

  I will try that.

  it sounds stranged that the operating system was not installed properly with the attached key. this is common if the clone was not done properly in the first place.

  do take note that the ms office that is pre installed is not free.

  Windows Office Starter is not the trial version for Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010

  and Microsoft Office Starter 2010 is free for unlimited period of use. Howoever,

  there are some functionalities that are being locked up in the free Word and Excel

  Programmes.
