Don't get scammed by the retail staff at first floor. Know your prices and never ask any tech related questions and you will get conned.
Example:
- Bought a 3-in-1 iPad connection kit (knockoff http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/14/knockoff-3-in-1-ipad-camera-connection-kit-improves-apples-own/) at $85 from one of the shops at 1st floor (center area). The price of this item is US$29 online FYI.
- There was an issue with the adaptor as it didn't detect some of the sdcards, went back to the retail staff at the same day. The retail said, it was due to the firmware or software on the iPad as it was too "new". Ask the staff if can return it and do a refund since the transaction was done in nets/cash.
- Staff A goes to ask Staff B and they discussed about the product among themselves, pointing fingers etc and then even checked with their next door colleagues. Told Staff A and Staff B that most of the Apple premium resellers around the area don't have stock for the original Apple camera connection kit.. Staff B then disappears for a while and returned with the original Apple Camera Connection Kit (the real thing!). Staff B said he found it from "somewhere". Asked how much was it (knowing the official price was $48), Staff B said "Oh, this is the original version and hard to find, so you need to top up $70 for it".
A fair warning to all buyers on the first floor, or locals specifically. Don't ever buy from them if you are not aware of what you are going to buy and don't know your facts eg. compatibility, or whether "this or that" works. Avoid buying oem products (knockoffs from the mainland), as there is no warranty. If you are buying Apple products, go back to the premium resellers and even if they have no stock, don't fret and just order it online from Apple SG store. (next day delivery)
con, cheat, or non-ethical sales tactics or whatever you call it, is not justifiable by any means.
Poh mata.
You say here not everybody will see it.
Normally only tourists will buy from them, locals mostly will shun them.
