Monitor problem

Hi guys,
today i was doing some random surfing on the net while dota-ing. den suddenly my laptop screen freeze for a good 5 mins. upon recovery, the bottom of my screen got "cut-off" I can't get a screen shot of it, as the print screen doesn't show that part of the screen (no idea why). However this picture will roughly show whats wrong (with the grey portion as a distorted pixel or whatsoever u call it).
So part of the screen is affected by this grey distortion, I've tried restarting my comp. to no avail... Whenever it starts up (even b4 proceeding to windows) the grey portion is already there. It's affecting my work and I hope to find a solution here, please help ! thanks in advance -
It's strange that even before it loads the login screen, that there's a grey portion. (I assume what you mean is the first moment you press the power button, and when the bios appears) - correct me if i m wrong.
Does the problem still replicate itself during Safe mode?
Do this
- Power off, Pull out the battery, power adapter connected to the laptop.
- Press the power button for 10 seconds.
- Put back the power adapter and switch on the power
- Press F8 repeatedly
- You should come to an advanced boot up menu
- go into safe mode.
I need to know a few things.- What make and model is your laptop.
- Operating system.
- What graphics card make/ model.
