Hi ! I'm currently compac presario laptop, with vista operating system.
Recently, my screen have blackout during the normal mode. However, when rebooted in the safe mode, the screen is back. Based on this, the assumption is that it is not a hardware problem. I've managed to get the screen working in normal mode somehow, however, it has blanked out again. Previously the computer have some issues in the sleep mode, problem could be related to this.
Care anybody advise me on how to reboot in normal mode with a working screen.
Do this
Thanks for your advice! Much appreciated!
Will try what you recommended and hope for the best!
Understand about the hinge, just had it repair a couple of months ago!
Thank you again!
It worked! Thanks a dozen!
Cheers.
While you are at it, update your drivers - sometimes drivers do cause this.
However for your case, it shouldn't be drivers.
If you boot it up in safe mode and if the problem stops, then it's a 3rd party programme or issue that's causing you to not boot up properly.
Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated, i'll keep that in mind.
My drivers are automatically updated, and that's when problems usually arise !
My suspicion is either the updates, some old games or the norton antivirus. My system slowed down considerably after these installations. For now, I keep my fingers crossed!
Thank you again for your kind help!
Season greetings!
Taking your advice and doing defrag right now!
You have been the most helpful! Thanks again!
No problem

Try this first.Else, check the hinges. The older Compaq presarios do have issues with their hinges.
Hi Ken, it seem like compay presarios is not the best buy in the mkt.
Me too, I am using one of this, desktop. Same problem.
