Hi guys, i've decided to get a normal maxonline basic 3mbps fixed cable plan, i'm currently using 7.2mb singtel mobile broadband.
By switching to the fixed line, i'm guranteed that i won't have to face frequent disconnections, and 'better' more 'stable' internet speeds right?
Please share your thoughts thanks.
a quick answer to your question is yes, it is more stable than mobile broadband connections. better internet speeds is questionable since if Singtel's mobile broad band has a max of 7.2mbps and if theoretically it goes up to 7.2, starhub will not be able to hit that speed.
thanks kenneth for your quick reply, just another question. I have to install the modem beside a cable port right? i wanted to install it at a corner in my house however theres only a 'telephone port' -like thing. I don't think that will work??

Starhub modems require it to be connected to a Starhub (SCV) television port - those white boxes (for older hdb flats) or the tv port (enclosed in the wall)
If you want to broadcast your network over to your whole house you have to buy a wireless router (requires your laptop/desktop to have a wireless card)
or a powerline eternet adapter (basically, you connect this to your power socket, connect the internet cable from the modem to it and then at the other end of your house let's say socket B, have another power line eternet adapter connecting to your desktop
am using singtel mio home (aka ur idea of fixed line)
not relli much better than using my bom
still can encounter some lag during peak hours
and got kena discon oso.....
sometimes at home i use bom and it's faster
ps: i switched from green to red bcos green connection is relli suxx. red oso not fantastic but better than green.
Hi Guys
I hv 2 questions.
1) If I have a broadband (singtel) using speed touch that is connect to the phone line and pc. If I want to make it wireless, is it I have to buy routers? Last weekend, I went to SL and saw 1 routers (abt $35), but I cannot figure out how to connect the routers. My speedtouch got 2 usb, one for phone and one for pc. How to connect?
2) If I have a mobile broadband, how to share another notebook? I heard that I need to buy a routers that plug the stick on the routers and then from routers connect 2 usb port to 2 notebooks. Is that so?
Thanks very much.
Sorry guys if I hijack the thread.
I just want to buy one but afriad I might purchase the wrong one.

Pocket size routers - for sharing mobile broadband signal
There are also Wireless Extenders :

Many many thanks for the diagram. How much is the routers (for speedtouch) connection, I mean roughly? I am not going for high end. Normal surf. Do I need to download setup.exe something like that?
And for mobile broadband, how much is the pocket size routers and the wireless extenders cost? Which one is better? For the Wireless extenders, I just plug the stick onto it. Then what is the next step to do?
If I go SL, can I get it? Thanks for your advice again.
