Hi guys! I'm posting here to do a quick survey for people using the MIO box, to check if the problem I encounter is really common to people using the MIO box. (Hence, I post this in 'Chit Chat' not in 'IT support and Tech Corner' for that reason. Apologies to the mods in advanced)
For my MIO box, it restarts itself always around 2am - 4am without fail. It gets really annoying or irritating when I'm gaming and I get disconnected from the game all of a sudden to realise that the MIO box is restarting itself.
I just called the technician and he said it is a normal thing for the MIO box to restart itself after 24hours. What the **** right? He said they can't do anything about it. It is to protect some electrical component of the MIO box and hence the restart.
I think it is a very lousy product that Singnet is giving us if the MIO box cannot sustain 24hours. In fact, I did not turn on my MIO box 24hours. It is only about 15hours and it restarts itself. It seriously makes me damn irritated by the service provided by Singnet.
So I would like to know how many of you guys using the MIO box is affected or not affected by this?
Hmm.. I think I end up posting this in IT support and Tech Corner after all.. -_- Anyway, same thing, just wanna check how many of you guys using the MIO box is affected or not affected by this?
It isn't a good idea to leave it on that long anyway...
I will get the auto restart bug if the Mio box is overloaded or heated up.

The red words, i will explain : In another words, long usage or less airflow cant cool down
Mine already turned on for about 1 week already. But sometimes it got disconnected also, but resumes connections abt 2-3 mins later.
@Razor87: Where is the location of your MIO Box? Is in in a cramped or enclosed location like in a cupboard or cramped on all sides by other stuff?
I usually use it for 13-14 hours at most only, so i'm not sure about the auto restart thingy.
But i would say that the MIO box does heat up easily due to poor design.
1. The MIO Box is in white colour.( Science: black absorb heat)
2. The modem is designed for standing, but most people prefer to let it lie down.
With lying down, the modem's two airflow holes become at the side, which is only made worse by point 1.
i have been using mio plan for 4 years already.
I on the mio box 24 hours a day
no problem encountered except that 2 years ago the mio box overheated and the technician came to change a new modem for me and no problem encountered until now
Wow, you guys are sure lucky for not facing such problems :|
@joeyfjj: My MIO box is placed in my living room. The area around it is clear, so I doubt airflow is a problem to me. :S
