Hi guys, i'm making a new pc for moderate gaming usage. This is my 1st time putting pc parts together and i come out with this...
MSI 785G-E53 (ddr3) sata 2 mainboard Amd Athlon II x4 640 (3.0ghz quad core) -- $298
Sapphire HD 5570 1gb ddr3 -- $139
Seasonic M1211 520watt -- $119
WD(carviar green) 500gb HDD -- $57
Corsair CL9 1333 2 x 2gb -- $90
Lg GH22 22x dvd-+rw (sata) -- $33
Coolermaster casing -- $ anything that's cheap
Total $736 (plus minus)
-Is there anything i missed out(something that is a must have)?
-Does these component actually works together?
-I gonna install windows 7 64bit, is it ok?
-I'm confused with the MOBO that its a pci-e 2.0 but video card is 2.1?
-i'm actually using a vga monintor, is it ok if i just buy a dvi convertor?
Thanks for looking and feedback is needed and much appreciated.
Nope...i doubt you missed anything.
These components sure will work together.
Yeah, the processor supports 64-bit.
Dont need to worry about this.
Yes.
thks for reply bro.. just some noob question...
- Does the processor comes with the cooling fan?
- Is this pc decent enough for gaming? (think of black ops, diablo 3 and guild wars 2 kind of games)

All of the processors come with a stock cooling fan, except some of intel's unlocked counterparts.(AMD i not sure)
If you plan to overclock the processor, you would need a third party cooler though.
With a 520W PSU, there is space to overclock, but you might wanna leave that for the graphics card.
As for the graphics card, i believe it is counted as low-end meaning able to take games which are not so graphics intensive. I've never played those games you mentioned before, so i cant comment on this.
If you can stretch your budget a little, i would recommend a high-end card like the 6850 or if you can wait, then maybe you might want to wait for the whole line of 6000 series AMD to come out...seeing that the 6870 and 6850 are already out, it shouldnt take too long. Coz i was thinking, you might not require so much power of the 6850, then probably you could wait for the 6750 to come out. i was thinking, if the 5570 couldn't handle your games, then you would have wasted money on it.
cant really stretch to get 6000 seris.. :s max i can go is 5770...

Let's see, your mobo+CPU choice is good (I actually had that mobo, excellent performer for the price).
The 640 is a very good chip, especially at it's price point. The processor does come with a cooling fan, so you don't have anything to worry about. Though if you cannot stand noise, it's better to get an aftermarket cooler. The stock coolers have a tendency to spin up to unbearable speeds when the CPU gets quite warm, especially if your casing has insufficient ventilation.
A good budget casing you can get is the Cooler Master Elite 310. If you are willing to spend a little bit more, the Ikonik EN2 has much more features and ventilation. They both are excellent choices though.
For gaming, the 5570 is quite weak. The card is perfectly fine for resolutions up to 1280x768. If the best you can afford is 5770-class (~$250), I can suggest the Leadtek GTX460 768MB version. Much better performance than the 5570, and it's highly overclockable. They retail for about $220.
You can read reviews on the card and compare it to the 5770.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/172?vs=156 HD5770 vs GTX460 768MB.
You can see that the GTX460 is faster than the HD5770.

Sorry i wasnt very clear.
What i meant was, if you could wait, then i suggest you wait for the 6750/6770.
Considering that 6870/6850 was better and cheaper than 5870 and 5850, so it should be the same case for the 6750/6770. and you might want to wait for it to get better value.
On the Nvidia side, since the GTX580 just came out, it will take awhile for the rest of the line to come out. so no point waiting for nvidia.
thank u guys so much.. learn something today.. ^^
but if i get a hd 5750, since my monintor is a vga type(bought nearly 5yrs ago) has the vga cable(hole) only, and hd 5750 have a dual dvi link(no d-sub), is there a converter in the market that i can connect a vga to a dual dvi link?

It is provided when you buy the graphics card.(in the box)
ah ha... thanks guys ^^
btw, cybermind(slightly cheaper) or fuwell ( more ex than cyber) to get the parts?

Just go for the cheaper one...i doubt any difference in quality.
