I use a Sony VAIO laptop CS36GJ, and today the last major thing i did was set a password for the laptop at User accounts. After that, I restarted the computer, and i wanted to play some music from Windows Media Player but there is no sound. I checked the mixer, the volume and sound settings, the computer says that everything is working. i pressed the external volume switch, and there was no beeping which the computer would usually have. I restarted the laptop a couple of times but there is still no sound though the computer says sound is working. How do i fix this? it is weird.
You have computer experts friends? Ask them fix it?

no
If your laptop is connected to external speakers, Make sure they are on.and powered.
Start Playing a song in repeat mode.
Run>mmsys.cpl
Under Playback, right click all device listed and enable it if they arent. Some devices have the audio bar beside it.These are your audio output devices. See if it is moving. Atleast 1 should be moving for a nomal working pc since you are playing a song.
If it is moving and you dont have sound, i tink is speaker problem or driver software old/nid to reinstall.
If it is not moving, OFF your music.Make sure no applications is using the sound.
Run>devmgmt.msc
Collapse the "Sound Video and Game Controllers".
A list of your audio drivers installed will come out.
Make sure they dont have an Exclamation mark or a red mark on them.If they do, means your sound card problem.
If they dont, right click all the audio drivers u installed and click uninstall.A "Confirm Device Uninstall" msg pops out. Make sure u UNCHECK "Delete the device software".Then press ok.
Now press Action in Device Manager and press Scan for Hardware changes. Wait a min or so then restart your computer and try playing music again
Think simple too. Check your speaker jack, ensure it is secure, try rotating it, remove/insert.
Is the volume controls all set to a reasonable volume, including within the media player?
Go to Sound and Audio Devices Properties (Right click the volume icon in the system tray, and select Adjust Volume Properties. Go to the Audio tab. Is the Sound playback default device correct?
Go to the lower right hand corner of your desktop, check the speaker trumpet next to your clock.
Make sure it's not MUTED.

Which step worked? we might be able to solve it from this side.
If software/driver problem, i doubt servicing helps.

The step when i uninstall the drivers and restart the comp worked. but after i shut down and turn on the next day there is no sound again and i need to repeat the process everytime. :(
Verify this for me.
After installation, go over to device manager, expand it, go over your sound hardware , right click, properties, driver tab, take note of the driver date and the driver version.
After every re-booting, head over to the device manager to check if the drivers revert back to the default drivers.
