Hi guys, my 2 weeks old Lenovo IdeaPad U460 crashed after I tried pairing it with my phone using bluetooth. Called the service centre and their only solution is to reformat it.
Anyone has any other solution besides that? It's only 2 weeks and I haven't backed up my stuff... So hopefully I don't have to restore it to factory settings.
Here's what it states:
My home PC also recently suffering from this problem... But for my case, it's likely my OS screwed up and need to re-install the OS...
Might your's be, in any coincident, windows 7?
Yes, Windows 7... Any solutions to it?

What happens when you start windows normally?
And, did you actually try putting in the setup disc when doing startup repair?
startup repair is not reformating, so put the disc if you have one.
How come, I tot windows seven should be good?

Well no idea on my end... I can only think of reinstalling the OS...
Seems like recently Windows 7 have been getting problematic... Especially after the incident whereas Window7 is sceptical to DOS attack via some Aero display settings (yes, unbelievable but true... Source from Microsoft...)

re-installing should be used only as a last resort.
1. You can try to press F8 when booting, and selecting "Last known good configuration" to see if it boots
2. If canot boot, try to put in a windows 7 CD, and then launch start up recovery.

Press F8 and select Safe Mode with networking. In the event that safe mode is inaccessible (It should), launch startup recovery or insert a Windows 7 install disk and select "Repair your computer"
When I choose the option to start Windows normally, it will go back to the same screen.
Yes I know I should launch the repair but the laptop is not supplied with the Windows 7 disk as it is preinstalled and there is also no optical disk drive. I will try to use the F8 method first and back to update. Thanks.
Ok, just tried booting with the last known good configuration as well as safe mode, both options failed and came back to the same page stating Windows failed to start.
Are there any other solutions?

exact same case with me sia...
I cant even boot up in safe mode and I do not have access to Win 7 disk >____>
zzz...
You need
1. A friend who have a external dvd drive
2. A friend windows 7 disc, prefably of the same version.
3. While booting, go to the bios and set boot from the EXT DVD drive
After that you can try lauching start up recovery like what raraken said.
I guess it repairing windows will do the trick
BTW where did u purchase the notebook from? maybe can ask the shop to help. since u do not have the WIN7 CD.
Can't find any solutions... Even took out the HDD and tried extracting the files but seems like they're all gone. Reformatted it last night. Files all gone. :(
Got the notebook from Singnet Broadband signup. Argg.
Thanks all for the replies.
