Dear all,
Im having a dilema choosing between Acer Aspire 4820TG http://www.smu.edu.sg/IITS/helpdesk_support/pc_spec/downloads/Acer%20Aspire%204820TG.pdf
and fujitsu LH700H http://www.smu.edu.sg/IITS/helpdesk_support/pc_spec/downloads/Fujitsu%20LH700H.pdf
I want to get an ACER because the specs are really worth the money. However, I've been hearing terrible quality issues with acer laptops.
Hence I would like to hear your views on the above acer laptop and which I should choose.
Fujitsu. japan made, better brand. My laptop now 4 years still can work. While i only heard complains about acer
Acer is crap, it'll break down right after warranty is over. 2 desktops, 1 monitor and 1 laptop are my justification.
i use acer, which has broken down b4
so fujitsu is my advice.
i using Acer for my desktop, where I had internet access coz my fujitsu siao siao one, internet can detect cannot connect -_-"
I also using FujitsuLifebook T4220 i think :D
Kinda dislike my Fujitsu already... there was once my keyboard the "G" key broke out, i had to waste 10 minutes of my life to fix it back. Lucky the little plasic inside nvr break..
Sent my lappy to the service centre at FUNAN for about 3-4 times for two years already. Since i bought it from school, i have 1+2 year warranty :D

idiot
ppl once beaten twice shy
Which you choose will depend on what you use it for. If just web browsing, Fujitsu. If you want to play games, Acer.
On the contrary, I've had no problems with my 1.5 year old Acer laptop, and neither has my family with their Acers. Mine now looks like a 3 year old laptop after all the abuse I put it through, and it still works perfectly fine.
I have had 2 acer laptops and they both seem to lag at the end of 2nd yr onwards. Other than that, I think they are value for money.
asus rocks
If they are using S3 Graphic cards, forget about it, I have burnt 2 of these cards over the past year.
Other than that, the lifebooks are real tough. (not as touch as the toughbooks or thinkpads) but tough enough for rough usage. Rough handled them alot. dropped it from about 1m, in a laptop sleeve (there's only a crack at the wrist pad).
if $$ is not a prob for you then huat the fujitsu coz u won't go wrong with them..
i love the fujitsu keyboards..
now on start of 3rd year with this acer aspire 4920.
many fujitsu users in smu had their laptops broken down before.
my friend bought an acer from PC show because best value for money, in the end had to keep sending it to repair shop in jurong. twice already.
acer really is poor quality imo.
Thanks for the replies guys and gals, Acer really seems worth the money with the powerful 5650 graphics card. I'll probably stick to fujitsu though after hearing Acer somehow is poorer in quality and usually heats up fast.
Has anyone have experience with the timeline range of acer lappys yet??

Acer Timeline X is decent.
For that slim size, you can't beat having a mobile Core i7 and a HD5650 in there. Plenty powerful.
However, they tend to heat up pretty fast due to lack of cooling.
Acer Aspire series is so-so, they have pretty good hard drives (WD), but the most common thing for them is fan failure. I have no idea why. Also, the PC itself doesn't last very long without something going awry.
Fujitsu on the other hand is modest with specifications but really expensive. This is because of the solid build quality, which I believe is one of the best in the industry.
Hardware on the other hand, is of mediocre specification.
If you don't mind buying latops from outside, I would suggest going with Asus. Decent build quality (only my unit out of 7 others I recommended 7 friends to buy, all similar model) had some issues. Even then, these are minor issues like the keyboard being a little wobbly - that's it.
Specifications and price are rather decent for Asus, do check them out.
Asus was good, performed well for me for 8 months before I put it out of commission.
