While having an SSD does increase responsiveness, an actual amount of it depends on your processor.

Changing to an SSD wouldn't really help with heat reduction.

I don't think you've had a <14" laptop with a 7200rpm HDD, and just how hot the HDD gets. SSDs take minimal power, and give off very little heat. And I know my laptop's CPU will handle it, got a RAID set-up running at full speed once.
I need an SSD for my laptop.
Fucking rough classmates. They love to shake tables, etc. Hate it. I get random impact records every few hours.

How sure are you that all the heat comes from the HDD?
I do not have as the above, but i do know how hot it gets.
But most of the heat isn't from the HDD.
Laptop components are by nature hot due to everything "cramped" up.
So i don't see how you can reduce much heat by changing to an SSD.
of coz i'm not discouraging you from buying SSD.

How about the HDD running at 53C, and on extended periods of time whent he laptop is on the table, the HDD bay cover gets too hot to touch?The panel above the CPU is relatively cool, and GPU as well. The hottest thing happens to be the HDD.
