You could go extreme AMD.
Use the Asus Crosshair III Formula or wait till the Crosshair IV Formula and Crosshair IV Extreme are released soon.

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, ~$225 USB3.0 and SATA 6Bits as well as CFX compatible.
Originally posted by GGINS:ha that’s a good motherboard i think. Is the onboard integrated radeon hd 4290 graphics card good? Or around the standards of a 9600 gt?
Hell no. IGPs will NEVER be as good as dedicated graphics of a similar era. For HD video, good enough. For playing games, no.
Originally posted by GGINS:okay. 40 cores is that good or bad? Anyway can it play bf2 at medium settings? And how can i switch between it and a discrete graphics card?
BF2 at medium? No. Low, at 1024x768, yes. Trust me,it's not fun to play games on an IGP. I've tried that before with my HD4200.
40 cores on ATi: Sucks. 40 cores on NVidia: Decent.
Basic guideline: Divide ATi's cores or stream processors by 5 to get a rough equivalent to NVidia's cores. 40 ATi cores is about 8 NVidia cores. Which is why you see the HD5870 having 1600 cores and GTX480 having 480, yet the GTX480 still beats the HD5870.
Note: You can only switch between the IGP and the dedicated card if you have a CERTIFIED GPU AND MOTHERBOARD. ATi's PowerXpress only works on LAPTOPS, so no go for desktops. Your discrete graphics card will ALWAYS be active.
620? Forget about it.
GTX480? Forget about it too.
Want GTX480, at least have a 700W.
Then again, for all that price and heat and extra power consumption, a GTX480 only beats a HD5870 by a small margin.
Take Crysis for example, the world's most fanboy-plagued game.
A GTX480 beats a HD5870 by a measly 1.34FPS.
Definitely not a crushing defeat, yo.

It's integrated. I'd like to see you TRY to remove it.
Forget about the GTX480. Expensive, loud and hot. Sure, it's the fastest single GPU card on the planet, but it's not worth the cash. Get a HD5850 instead. Yes, a good 620W can handle the GTX480 just fine. But, it's pointless to get a GTX480 right now. So the point is moot.
Originally posted by GGINS:oh. How about a hd 5970 then? Does it own the gtx? Btw is coolermaster GX 650W power supply reliable and okay for a hd 5850 or 5970?
GX650 will be enough for the HD5970.
No, the 750 will NOT come with Intel HD Graphics. Intel HD graphics may only be used on H55 and H57 boards, and come with the Intel i3 and Intel i5 600 series. The 700 series DO NOT have Intel HD Graphics.
Intel HD Graphics<HD3200<HD4200<HD4290. It offers similar performance, but drivers are still not up to par. Intel's drivers use the CPU to boost 3D rendering in supported games, which leads to a similar performance compared to the AMD/NVidia counterparts. However, in unsupported games, the Intel graphics lags far behind.

Yes, bundles are cheaper.
The AMD Dragon platform consists of a Phenom II CPU, a 790G/F chipset and HD4800 series graphics cards. The new platform fore 2010 is Leo (:D), which is a Phenom II CPU, 890G/F chipset and HD5800 series graphics.
Can't wait to see the mascot for Leo. The Dragon emblem was teh awesum.
HD5970 pretty much pwns the GTX by a huge margin.
Synthetic benchmarks don't mean shit when it comes to comparing GPU scores.
What matters more is real world performance in games, efficiency, power consumption, heat, noise, etc.
A HD5850 either performs better or on par with a GTX470.
A HD5870 does not perform as well as a GTX480 but a slight OC to the HD5870 will see it matching GTX480 performance or exceeding.

The HD5870 beats the GTX480 in average frame rates, but the GTX 480 has MUCH better minimum frame rates (Like, 20 more minimum FPS for a given game), which is more noticeable in heavily tessellated games
Originally posted by GGINS:hmmm so is the leo system out already? Compared to other cpus and motherboards does dragon, leo systems work better?
The parts for the platform have already been released, so yeah, it has.
Storm Scout is a mid-tower casing. It may not fit, but most likely will. Wire management holes are there to help in managing the mess.
For questions on what casing will fit, you're better off asking at overclock.net or xtremesystems.org because it's very likely that there are users there who have the casings you are interested in.
OCN will tell you.

CCFL (Cold Cathode Florescent Lights) can be bought for about $20-$30 per set depending on where you buy them. Get them from UVnium on the 3rd floor of SLS. It's a backlane shop, most people don't know it exists :P
CFX 5770 is of course going to be better than single GTX260. The GTX260 is only slightly better than the HD5770. VS 5850, 5850 will lose slightly, but 5850 consumes less power and looks more "stylo" than the CFX 5770. Plus, 5850 costs less and takes up only 1 slot.
The GT480 OC owns 5870 OC lo, though power comsumption and heat level still lose.
The heat is probably due to its 3 billion transistors.
Anyway, graphics card arent future proof, so just buy one that fit your needs.
