Hi people here, need your help for the following question - i intend to change motherboard and processor on my existing system. i understand there is a need to do a system repair for the old harddisk . is there any other way to solve this problem?
you will have to activate your copy of Windows again, after u changed ur motherboard and processor. others i'm not really that sure. the rest would be able to give an answer.
I would recommend reinstalling the OS, but I've tried swapping a HDD with a pre-installed OS into a totally different system before and it works fine after installing the necessary drivers.
It will work fine in it - just make sure you clear all old drivers and do a fresh install of new ones.
Howto:
Download DriverSweeper and boot into Safe Mode.
From there, clear all the applicable drivers, e.g. LAN driver, onboard HD audio driver, mobo chipset drivers, etc.
Once cleared, restart and boot into Safe Mode again to double check if all drivers have been cleared.
If yes, move on to boot in normal mode and install new drivers. If no, re-do the clearing of drivers in Safe Mode.

If the Windows OS is an OEM version, one needs to call up Microsoft technical support to re-activate the Windows OS (otherwise the hard-disk will not boot into Windows OS again) as Micosoft considers that the changing of motherboard and CPU as major upgrade and deems it to be another system.
