The gameplay was choppy and i always got pwned before i knew what happened:(:(:(. Anyway i tot i needed a new com so here i am. Eh can someone give me a rough info on how custom rigs are being sold at simlim sq? Cause i'm really a noob and dont know much about it. also i really dont know what kinda system is required to play bfbc2 on high settings with no lag, so pls recommend too:) Thanks my budget is $1200:) also is ATI's Radeon HD 4870 better ot nVidia's GTx 260 better? Thanks:D
btw i dont need monitor and mouse.... Just need a OS. Preferably Win7 or Vista 64 bit. Issit around 200 bucks? or can i find better prices at sim lim? thanks
There is a stickied thread regarding DIY pc.
I don't play that game so i don't know. Anyway, you can always reduce the graphic settings if it lags. No one said that you had to use high settings. Performance or quality...you decide.
Why don't you just buy ATI's 5x series graphics card? (in case you play dx11 in future)
Win7 64-bit is about $149.

Depends on graphics cards. If you are playing on Intel HD graphics then that's the problem. Dedicated graphics should be playable if you tone down the details and resolution.

Go to this thread. Any gaming rig there should be able to handle BFBC2 pretty well.
anyone play BFBC2 here?

Eh i’m aware of the sticky forum but when i went to hp’s webpage i noticed a com with an ati series 5 costs lesser than the same com with gtx 260. Yeah i’m using integrated graphics. Is that the major problem? But the graphical memory is quite large leh, 512. Hmmm btw should i choose i5-750 or should i get i7-860? Both are quad core and seems quite pro to me thanks
ATi 5 series? 5 series what? 5600? 5750? Those are weaker than the GTX260.
Yes, integrated graphics are the problem. CPU doesn't mean shite if your GPU sucks.

What is the brand and model of your laptop?
And yeah, nVidia's cards have always had a price premium over ATi cards. Everyone knows that ATi cards give you much better price/performance ratio.
Also, GPU is useless if your CPU sucks.
Laptops are usually unable to play games smoothly, so use a desktop instead.
IF you don't have a desktop, go to a LAN shop instead. No use using a laptop for games.

I don't think new computers would come with 5650 anymore.
GTX260 doesn't support DX11, no use buying it if you want to play DX11.(even if you don't now, you might in the future)
DId you have to mention 5750? -_-

I'm referring to the 5670.
GTX260 is for those who don't care about DX11 (5750/5770 both suffer with DX11 by quite a bit compared to DX10/.1 mode) and want more power. And why do I have to mention 5750? Because it's relevant.
Also, GTX260 has PhysX, if you want that eye-candy. I personally don't give a hoot, but hey, you might. Your friend(s) might.

Ya...i'm suffering on DX11 with my 5750. =.=
Originally posted by GGINS:oh. I use an acer laptop. Timeline x i think. Anyway if i’m not wrong there’s gtx 260 900mb and gtx 260 special edition 1.8 gb right? Is there any other diff except for the memory? So a radeon hd 5770 should be better than the gtx 260 1.8 gb? Anyway what do you guys think of this configuration?
Specs: Intel core i7-860, 6gb ddr3(3 slots), 640 gb hard drive, ati radeon hd 5770, dvd lightscribe drive. Thanks
No.
GTX260 > HD5770 in gaming performance, as long as GTX 260 has 216 shaders (Which should be all those still on the market).
But on a practical viewpoint, take the 5770. Lower power consumption.
It's not really the 216 shaders that matter, but more of most games are coded to work better with nVidia graphics.
Sure, the 260 will work well with your games, but the ATi card will give you warmer colours, better contrast (stuff looks natural) and of course, the DX11 support.
You can pick up a second 5770 when finances permit and CrossFire those cards, and you have a machine capable of playing DiRT 2.

Technically, it's the 216 shaders that give the GTX260 the edge over the 5770. The original 192 shader version should be on par with it.

i'm running my 5750 in Xfire now and it has no problem playing the demo DiRT 2.
Originally posted by GGINS:oh okay. Anyway can you guys give me an idea of the prices? Also, is there any good graphics card below 120? Haha thinking of upgrading my old pc.
below 120... err NO
Originally posted by GGINS:oh. Okay eh how about around 120? I’m not looking for those v good graphics cards. A simple 7600 GT to 9500 GT will do. But need to be agp.
For around $120?
XFX has the HD4650 512MB AGP version for $125 or so. You can get it @ SLS. Pwns the shit out of the 9500GT.
Originally posted by GGINS:but seriously i really need to know how much does a 7600 gt costs? And how much power does it take? Maybe a 6600 gt will do… Haha
Both EOL, and frankly, the 4650 will whup their asses into next week while consuming as much as or less power.
4650 doesn't need lots of power.
A decent 450W (by decent I don't mean Bestec, Vios, etc crap that comes with your casing) power supply will run it nicely.
