SOME Apple fans in Singapore are among the first few here to own the coveted iPad tablet computer.
They received the gadget last week in the mail from the United States after placing an order through online concierge services.
This is despite the fact that Apple has not even announced when its latest product will be available here.
It hit stores in the US on April 3.
And those Singaporeans who now own an iPad have had nothing but a blast with their new gizmos.
Take for instance IT entrepreneur Toh Kian Khai, 28, who got his iPad last Friday.
Mr Toh has been spending the bulk of his time over the weekend watching video clips transferred from his computer to his iPad.
“The screen is very crisp,” he enthused.
And thanks to the design of the device, he can browse the Internet and his photo collection on the iPad’s touchscreen while lying in bed.
This would have been more difficult with a notebook computer, which is bulkier.
Aside from using the iPad at home, Mr Toh also sees himself using it when he chills out at West Coast Park.
“I would bring it with me when I’m travelling on holiday to watch videos and read electronic books,” he added.
Mr Toh paid $850 for his 16GB Wi-Fi iPad, inclusive of the device’s US$499 (S$694) price, shipping charges and taxes.
well once he gets bored with it, or a new product comes by which OWNS ipad, these people are gg to regret buying it.
so expecting a lot of pple to sell their itouch soon? haha
