Do you mean autoplay (having a pop up giving you the options)
or
It doesn't read at all. (can't be ran through my computer, and the icon in my computer disappears too)
try getting an application like VLC or something.. use that to play the disc.. that app usually plays anything

usually when u put DVD inside, it will auto play that DVD isnt it. when I put DVD inside, it didnt play the game. when I go do it manually and click on mycomputer and launched exe, it still didnt play. whats up with my laptop eh?
if you are using windoze, i think you have to launch media player.. then go to the top, click on "play" and choose the "CD, VCD, DVD" option..
VLC is a program which you can download to play all kinds of media files... just be sure to choose the correct one for your operating system...
i use VLC for Mac.. it plays everything, including VCDs and DVDs... but mostly for avi, mkv, mov, mp4 and other type of movie files...
Either it's spoilt, some updates screw it up or you don't have the necessary codecs to play them.
Try installing a program from a disc or burn some files to a disc. If this works fine, your DVD player is fine.
If the above doesn't work, did you perform any recent updates or installed any software?
How about old DVDs or VCDs? Those that used to play, do they still play now?
