i install IE8 yesterday on my pirated copy of WinXP, and when i restart and boot up, there's the error box with the "Send error report" and "Don't send" buttons.
when i click "Don't send", the box disappears and the system doesn't continue to load further (no taskbar, no icons....)
mouse can move but the whole screen blank with only wallpaper.
it's like IE8 can detect my WinXP is fake and now jams the system.
pls help! or is there a way to remove IE8 via DOS during boot-up?
Safe mode?
Hmm... just deleting the files that IE required to run on also will cause bad links and even worse... del the wrong files and your system crash...
Makes me wonder why you installed IE8.
Anyway, can you launch Task Manager from there? If so, click the processes tab and look for explorer.exe and verify it is running.
If not, click File, then click New Task. The Run box should open up. Click Browse, and navigate to C:\Windows and look for explorer.exe. Double click it, and then run it. If the same thing still happens, I think your explorer.exe was corrupted.
i recommend either firefox or google chrome..... i use the latter and so far have not had any problems...... just a suggestion
Try install Firefox. Download Internet Explorer seven and upgrade to Internet Explorer 8
Like you have already said. It's pirated.
There must be issues with windows genuine advantage from the IE8 and your *ahem* Windows Xp.
Follow Raraken's method to end the explorer.exe
and do the steps below to remove
Alternative steps for Windows XP or for Windows Server 2003
- Carefully select and then copy the following command:
%windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type Cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.
- Right-click inside the Cmd.exe window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.
- Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
- When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

I was thinking: Safe mode and system restore, but then it's Windows XP Pira<*Ahem*> Edition.
