Hi, I am a student ans still studying. As my current desktop is around 5 years old and is rather incapable of running memory intense applications, I will need to purchase a new laptop in order to run such applications.
I will really appreciate if anyone could recommend me good quality laptop, my budget is around <S$1750. If possible found in IT show.
Thanks!

any brand that you'll prefer? and what sort of RAM intense apps do u usually run? also, other than running these programs, what do u usually do with the laptop, ie gaming?
~duplicated post~
if your not looking into gaming, dell has some pretty good laptops around 1.2-1.3k that have fast processors and ample RAM.... but, if it is for gaming.... how much do you game? are yu into hardcore or leisure gaming? depending on that, either hp or gateway have pretty good laptops.... i myself have a hp pavillion which i use for leisurely gaming
specs are :
Intel Centrino 2 Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53 gHz (quite a fast processor)
4gb (standard config for most laptops now a days)
Nvidia GeForce G 105 M (low end that can play a few new games at low quality)
Dvd Drive
320GB SATA Hard drive
windows vista home premium
bought mine for about 1.4k
Polytechnics have started selling laptops with fairly good specification, with i3, i5, and i7 processors.
The price for the fujitsu with an core i7, Nvdia 512mb, 4gb ddr3 ram, -- $1.7xxk
These are students discounted prices. (Just find a student and offer to pay them a slight commission) -- They do not include student bundles (such as microsoft office though.)
Here's one:
Asus A42J
$1498 @ SLS IT Harvest
Intel Core i5-430M
4GB DDR3-1066MHz RAM
500GB HDD
ATi Mobility Radeon HD5470 w/VGA out, HDMI, 1GB GDDR3 VRAM
14.1" screen which can be quite dark at the lowest setting and bloody bright at the highest
A heatsink with what seems like a heatpipe running thru it o.o
5300RPM (highest i've seen so far.. i think i can run it faster if i made the cpu heat up more. LOL) cooling fan in the laptop, it's a screamer.
mmm there.
not a bad laptop. 2.2KG with batt summore.
and on high performance mode, the batt does 2 hours or more i think.
oh and the asus comes with 64-bit version of Windows 7 home premium.
max. RAM capacity in this laptop is 8GB.
this laptop can handle games quite okay...
definitely not for those who want to max out their games, if you wanna max out, get a laptop with a HD5730, not a 5470.
this one canplay most games at medium settings. TF2 with all settings @ max gets around 40fps constant. quite smooth but not the best, if you shoot the water it gets 5fps. lol
lower the settings on your games and you'll be fine.
