hello,
Is it possible to build a gaming pc at $500 ? I dont need keyboard, monitor and mouse and the games dont have to run on very high resolution/settings. Maybe medium~high ... and has to support any future games that are coming out ...
Thanks!
OS? Need Windows or not?
Anyway, budget eh?
AMD Athlon II X2 240+ ECS A785GM-M5 - $178
2GB DDR2 800MHz - $65
Hitachi 500GB SATA HDD - $75
AcBel E2 470W - $65
PowerColor HD4670 - $120
DVD Super Multi - $34
PowerLogic ATX casing - $40 (Look around for other cheap ones too)
Total WITHOUT OS: $577
Cut down on so many corners already, cheapest I can make. If you want with OS, no hope already. OS already $100+. You want it to be future-proof, you gotta spend about $650, switch to DDR3 based motherboard. The HD4670 is decent enough, might be okay for high settings depending on the game.
Looking for some1 who can build me a gaming pc... i can do it but too busy with work.. budget is $1200.. paying you $300... pm me

Just go Sim Lim Square and buy a DIY one.
Easiest way is to take Brochures given out near the entrances and go through them.
I bought mine at $14xx with OS and a 620watt Power Supply.
It has a 920 and 5750.

Depends on what game you are playing.
Even if it really was possible to build, it would have problem running games that require high graphics.

I understand fully what you mean.
You could go Sim Lim to order one and collect it when you're free.
I'm not sure if you coud order by calling.
Mine is D.I.Y but they setup the computer for free.
I went there, ordered, paid then waited 2 half hours to collect.(Can collect any time though)

GeForce? Those overpriced rebadged POS cards? Hell no.
Gaming PCs need these drives. You need to install your games, right? Unless you buy games via Steam.

a noob question here, but are the specs listed here enough to play WoW?
can barely support...graphic card seems quite outdated and very low end tho
ouh, well, i juz use WoW as a comparison to other games, as i ASSUME if it can run WoW smoothly, it can run majority of the games. Me thinking of making a budget desktop, games i wanna play is warcraft, l4d.

you're too busy with work and as such can't find time to build your pc, yet you can find time to game..
fishy.

a HD4670 handles l4d at medium to 3/4 high settings depending on your config.
its either you turn up the details and turn down the AA or turn up the AA and down the details.
works the same for most midrange cards.

Actually, WOW is not really that graphics-intensive as compared to single-player FPS games like Fallout or Mass Effect. In fact, most multi-player games are pretty light on resources. Think of it this way, if you're a game developer, and you want as many people to play your game as possible, would you develop a game which only runs on a high-end computer, or one that can even be played on a computer your grandma uses to surf the net?

I'm 100% sure that any desktop built today can run WC3 at max settings. I mean, the game was launched almost 8 years ago.

okie thnx for the enlightment!
u know....i build a pc...with 8400 graphic card!
lol @ 8400gs.
OP just get a HD4670 or 4770 if you're kiasu.
Stick to that and make sure you get a good case with good airflow.
lol my laptop running 8400 128mb, can run l4d at all low (30-50fps) and of course WC3 at max.
